Sean Lineker is a cast member and most recent winner of the hit reality TV show Shipwrecked, which is sort of like a British version of Survivor. He’s also a member in the series’ first on-screen gay relationship, an experience he calls “difficult and awkward.”
“I did find it difficult and awkward having a relationship with a man on TV,” Lineker tells Cocktails and Cocktalk. “I’ve been openly gay for a while, but doing it in the public eye is still difficult, as it’s not something all my friends and especially family have seen.”
“That being said, I am glad that the relationship was a highlight of the show and featured well.”
Lineker had a romance with his cast mate Chris Jammer, a 6’7 model and aspiring music festival producer.
Asked whether he and Jammer are still an item, Lineker says, simply, “No comment” (we take that as a no), before adding that he’s proud of how the relationship was portrayed and hopes it helped to open people’s hearts and minds.
“When I was growing up as a teenager, I didn’t once see two gay men have a relationship on a reality show,” he says.
“Big Brother, Love Island and all these other shows generally focus on straight relationships which is a shame. So if anyone sees my relationship on the show and it helps them come out in their own personal life, then my job is done.”
Now that the show is over, Lineker says he’s started receiving DMs from fans on social media.
“I’ve surprisingly had really positive feedback so far,” he says. “I think due to my quite large social media following people had a preconceived perception of what I’d be like as a person.”
He continues, “I’ve had a lot of messages saying they’re really shocked at how nice I am which is always nice to hear.”

Yeah, he is cool!
Wicked Dickie
I’d climb that giant Chris Jammer.

I’ve been saying this for years! Enough of the token stereotypical gay on these US reality shows, where is the respectful screen-time and enough gays on a show (vs the typical 1) for a relationship to unfold!?
@AndrewB12
Really awersome
arie570
Yes unfortunately the Jussie Smullet reality show wasn’t a very good thing for gay people or black people or people who dislike Trump.
startenout
Unfortunately you’re desperately seeking relevance on a story out of the UK which has absolutely nothing to do with that. Ta.
calpoidog
Gee, let’s see..these guys (and gals on similar shows) go on these shows to self-promote in the hopes they can become the next no-talent Kardashian or whatever and he’s sorry he had to get even more attention because of this.
Whatever…who cares…no one will remember who you are in one year.

It’s nice to be young and handsome. Would people watch a reality show gay romance of two 40-something stocky and ugly looking guys? I dunno.
nm4047
wasn’t that the description of the Richard Hatch(?) from the survivor in the early seasons.
Brian
But Richard Hatch was naked and alone, nobody wanted to showmance him.
Kangol
Let’s have someone create such a show and find out. Why not give it a try.
Also, there are many 40-something stocky and attractive gay men. Many.
am
@Kangol Tell it to TV producers! They will never do it. 40-somethings are not their targeted audience, it’s 18–34 who matter for selling advertising most.
Brian
This guy has “leaked” nudes written all over him.
Kangol
More about that giant Mr. Jammer, please.
BTW, Queerty, Ex On the Beach is a US program and has a number of gay men and several gay couples on it.

Get the crocodile tears ready. Just wanting a few more minutes of fame
GayEGO
It is not as awkward as it was back in the 1960s when I was in the Navy and kept my mouth shut about being gay.

I so need to go to the gym.
