A homophobic couple refuses to tip their waitress after learning she’s gay in the latest episode of ABC’s hidden camera show What Would You Do?
The segment was inspired by a 2017 incident where a waitress was denied a tip by customers who took offense to her rainbow tattoo.

In the episode, other customers can be seen stepping up to the waitress’ defense, telling the couple they are “being very rude” and that “her life doesn’t impact your life, does it?”

it’s a setup to see how other (non-actor) patrons will react.
It’s an actual recurring segment on a national news magazine in the U.S.
(note: not every segment is about gay waiters, though)
