Well, it’s official. Prince died of an opioid overdose, according to law enforcement.
An anonymous source close to the investigation surrounding the 57-year-old singer’s sudden death in April confirmed to the AP this morning that it was a result of an overdose of prescription painkillers. Though the specific drug was not revealed, many are already speculating it was Percocet.

So far, two doctors have been investigated in connection to the singer’s death. Dr. Michael Schulenberg had visited Paisley Park the morning of Prince’s passing, and Dr. Howard Kornfeld’s son was also there with opioids used to treat addiction. Schulenberg’s attorney maintains the doctor did not give Prince any meds that morning.

Truth-is-Truthy
Yes, the opioid *IS* mentioned in the report, in fact it’s mentioned TWICE. How could you miss that? Cause of death is listed as “Fentanyl toxicity” and how death occurred it says “The decedent self-administered fentanyl”. Fentanyl is much, much stronger than Percocet. In fact, fentanyl is usually given to people who have advanced cancer. Fentanyl is available in liquid patches that you apply to your skin every 72 hours, but addicts will often extract the gel and eat it. That is fatal. It is also available by injection, but the autopsy report does not note any needle marks which means he probably consumed the gel. Many people who have done this have died because they think “I’ve been taking opiates for a long time and I’m used to them”, and usually that would be true when taking normal doses, but the gel in the fentanyl patches is a concentrated form that is supposed to release a continual amount of the drug into your body over 72 hours. If you take the gel out of the patch even the act of touching it can sometimes cause toxicity because it’s a special concoction made to be absorbed through the skin. He would have taken this stuff, and the way it would have killed him is that it would have knocked him out into a deep sleep and then his breathing would slow down until it ceased completely. For him to have passed out in the elevator means he probably took it shortly before he went into it and then it hit him all of a sudden, he passed out, stopped breathing causing cardiac arrest and death. So sad.
