Clay Aiken and best gal pal Jaymes Foster welcome a child into the world at 8:08 today, 08/08/08. That’s really all we can say on the matter. [MG]

I’m speechless! Please don’t over turn Roe V Wade…
Snoodle
That’s lovely for them 🙂 If not the oddest thing I’ve heard in a very long time o.O!
Stu
Does that make it the Anti-Christ?
gayinsf
Jodi or Jaymes Foster? That post made my day and I bet they used a turkey baster.
Alexa
It was first reported as AI then later as IVF. Either way, no sex was involved. And he’s been pretty clear all along they are just friends, right down to the emphasis in his blog today that there are no hyphens in the baby’s name (ie. it’s Parker Foster Aiken, not Parker Foster-Aiken). Some fans have been claiming they are married or dating, and that statement puts paid to that idea.

Clay buy a new turkey baster before Thanksgiving…just saying
EdWoody
Stands to reason that he’d choose a female called “Jaymes.”
Jude
Did the birth take place in a closet?
reversion
@Jude: Hahaha. That gave me a chuckle.
hell's kitchen guy
He went the Michael jackson route with artificial insemination, I assume. I hope they kept the turkey baster so the kid could cal it “daddy.”
Doc
When did he get pregnant?
Jude
“Baby, don’t squeeze daddy too hard, you’ll spill him all over my nice dress”
no
i think that this baby is too powerful for a mere six six six, had to go to 888 and then another 88. where are the four horsemen?
David Paul C. Dorcey
Kind of mean given the great things about gays having kids. Guess you have to be super hot to reproduce these days. Weird because of the age difference but still a good thing.
Roe vs. Wade. That’s low.
Jude
Thing is, it’s not so much a case of gays having kids… it’s a case of a self-loather having a baby and not participating in any way to the fight for other gays and lesbians to adopt/reproduce. That would explain the general meanness of the posts. I don’t think the way he looks had anything to do with anyone’s reply.
Alexa
Just because he doesn’t shout to the world that he’s gay doesn’t mean he’s self loathing. Nothing he has said or done for the last few years – including having this baby – gives any indication he’s anything other than a gay man – a gay man who is out to his friends and family, but doesn’t want to discuss his private life with the public. And with the wacked out fans he has, I don’t blame him. Some of them would probably turn violent if they really thought he was gay (I wish I was joking, but some of them really are that crazy).
Jude
This is a quote from a Rolling Stone magazine: “One thing I’ve found of people in the public eye, either you’re a womanizer or you’ve got to be gay. Since I’m neither one of those, people are completely concerned about me”.
This is taken from Next magazine: “We tried to get an interview with the sexually ambiguous pop star … but his publicist told us he’d ‘never talk to a gay magazine!”
While it’s true nowadays he mostly refuses to answer the question, he has vehemently denied it in the past. The reason it seems so easy to make fun of him (and it was quite light-hearted at that, no major hate) is that he gets so very insulted when the question gets asked. As if being gay was insulting. I understand he comes from a difficult background, but if you say he is out and proud with his family, I wonder why his background is so important.
Alexa
The Rolling Stone interview took place when he was still on American Idol, and even Jim Verraros and others who came out later had to pretend they were straight then. And his publicist said he was misquoted about that statement. As for him vehemently denying it, virtually every case of him denying it was someone quoting the Rolling Stone interview. Despite what people think, that is the only time he explicitly denied being gay.
I’ve never understood why he gets so much abuse for not coming out publicly when others don’t, and yet they hide it more than he does. Why didn’t Lance Bass, for example, get ridiculed more for dating women? (something Clay has never done since becoming famous)
Jude
Wow, someone’s quite the Claymate. I’m sorry if I offended you so badly. Then again, I’m a bit touchy when it comes to people in the public eye who can’t seem to get out of the glass-closet and speak up for gays. Maybe that’s just me, but a lot of people had to fight for our rights and I believe that’s doing them a disservice.
Concerning Lance Bass, well he’s quite out and proud now. And he was ridiculed for a bit right after coming out. And while Clay has admitted to not dating women, he did try to spin it into not being interested in anything sexually.

“he did try to spin it into not being interested in anything sexually.”
Anything is quoted as saying, It’s MUTUAL!”
Jude
Tell me Mark, am I being totally crazy in trying to defend the comments posted about Clay Aiken or do I reflect what quite a few people think? I feel like I’m being a prick, yet that was not my intention. Just trying to argue why, for many people in the gay community, he is not well appreciated.
Alexa
Jude, you’re not being a prick, and the only way you offended me was by calling me a Claymate 😉 (trust me, the real Claymates want nothing to do with anyone who thinks he’s gay, especially fans who think he’s gay). I wish in so many ways that he would come out, if only because the lunatic part of his fanbase would have to stfu and leave the rest of us alone.
And that’s more than enough from me on this subject, time to hit the gym so I don’t end up looking like a Claymate as well as sounding like one.
Jude
See Alexa, I think you just hit the nail right on the head. A big part of his fanbase are people who despise gays and yet, turn a blind eye to all the evidence he is gay. Those people are the ones who need to see positive role models who also happen to be gay in order to accept us. Those are the people most out gay men can hardly reach to simply because, knowing they are gay right off the bat, those people despise them right away. He would have the possibility to help the gay cause (in some circles anyway) but decides to be passive.
Then again, he’s not the only one who could help the cause and decides not to.

Jude
Clay’s problem is he’s OBVIOUS, and he threatened no straight’s stereotype of us. Then his denial of being queer just comes off laughable.
Jude
In a way I feel bad for anyone growing up and being stereotypically queer in a conservative environment. Must not be easy, and I could never understand what that must be like. But like you said Mark, it can seem somewhat laughable for him to have denied it as he did.
But I do believe the main problem is that, considering all the positive changes brought to society thanks to gay activists who came before us, Clay Aiken enjoys those privileges without giving anything back, even though he is in a position where he could actually have a positive impact.
