Rhode Islanders United for Marriage, a new broad-based coalition of advocates and activists, officially launched today as efforts to bring same-sex marriage to Rhode Island heat up.
The organization includes members of LGBT groups like Freedom to Marry, GLAAD, HRC, and Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders (GLAD), as well as those from labor groups like the Rhode Island AFL-CIO, Rhode Island Federation of Teachers and Health Professionals, Service Employees International Union and the United Food and Commercial Workers.
The state House of Representatives has scheduled a hearing on a marriage-equality bill for Tuesday, and openly gay House Speaker Gordon Fox says he wants lawmakers to vote on it early this year.

A blue state surrounded on all sides by states with gay marriage. How can marriage equality not pass?

“How can marriage equality not pass?”
Three words: The, Catholic and Church.
I get the feeling you don’t know Rhode Island very well.
Think Mormon and Utah.
