You know when a dog starts gnawing on a mystery object and simply won’t let go? Yeah, that’s kind of what’s happening with the right wing and the “super staph” reports…
Some social conservatives insist that the media and University of California dismissed the gay panic out of political correctness. And guess who’s at the head of the line: Matt Barber.
Conservative groups say the truth about a new “multi-drug resistant microbe” prevalent among homosexual men is not being presented to the public because of political correctness.
…The media are now obscuring that fact, according to Matt Barber, director of cultural policy for Concerned Women for America (CWA).
“The real story here is the way that the media have whitewashed this outbreak,” Barber told Cybercast News Service. “It is amazing to see what they’ve done with this…The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and other organizations began to jump up and down a bit and scream, and The New York Times and other organizations started to backpedal,” Barber said.
“The story was no longer the dangers associated with the outbreak – and the behaviors associated with it,” said Barber. “The story now became about how groups like mine were supposedly misrepresenting the outbreak as some sort of ‘new gay plague’ or ‘the new AIDS’ – things we never said.”
Barber and his Concerned Women of America may never have said “new gay plague,” but he certainly did connect the drug-resistant staph strain to HIV. Don’t remember? Here’s what their press release said on January 16, 2008:
The medical community has known for years that homosexual conduct, especially among males, creates a breeding ground for often deadly disease. In recent years we have seen a profound resurgence in cases of HIV/AIDS, syphilis, rectal gonorrhea and many other STDs among those who call themselves ‘gay.’
Barber also said that shows like Will & Grace helped promote the gay “lifestyle,” which has “deadly consequences”.
This mutt needs to be put down – or at least taken to obedience school.
