Excuses, excuses

Roseanne blames her racism on Ambien and the entire internet is like ‘Girl, bye!’

Yesterday, Roseanne Barr showed the world how to lose a #1 hit TV show in 140 characters or less when she called former President Obama aide Valerie Jarrett a Muslim ape on Twitter.

Today, she tried defending herself by blaming her racist behavior… on Ambien?

“Don’t feel sorry for me, guys!!” the 65-year-old tweeted earlier today. “I just want to apologize to the hundreds of people, and wonderful writers (all liberal) and talented actors who lost their jobs on my show due to my stupid tweet.”

She went on to blame her racism on the sleep aide.

“It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defended-it was egregious Indefensible,” Barr claimed. “I made a mistake I wish I hadn’t but…don’t defend it please. ty.”

Sanofi, which manufactures the drug, wasted no time issuing a response:

People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world. While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication.

Twitter was also quick to respond…

And not long after the came the memes…

The struggle is real. #roseanne #roseannebarr #ambien #twitter #abc
