Yesterday, Roseanne Barr showed the world how to lose a #1 hit TV show in 140 characters or less when she called former President Obama aide Valerie Jarrett a Muslim ape on Twitter.
Today, she tried defending herself by blaming her racist behavior… on Ambien?
“Don’t feel sorry for me, guys!!” the 65-year-old tweeted earlier today. “I just want to apologize to the hundreds of people, and wonderful writers (all liberal) and talented actors who lost their jobs on my show due to my stupid tweet.”
She went on to blame her racism on the sleep aide.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defended-it was egregious Indefensible,” Barr claimed. “I made a mistake I wish I hadn’t but…don’t defend it please. ty.”

Sanofi, which manufactures the drug, wasted no time issuing a response:
People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world. While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication.
Twitter was also quick to respond…

Ambien has quite a few side effects but racism isn’t one of them. Even if Roseanne wanted to claim she had an Ambien blackout and was sleep tweeting, that racism had to come from somewhere deep within.

Thank you, Roseanne. Now that I know Ambien causes overt racism, I'm going to stick with the subtle microaggressions of Nyquil.

The problem is, she also attacked Susan Rice, another black woman a few years ago by calling her an “Ape”.
So once again, somebody from the party of personal responsibility tries to avoid responsibility.
My favorite thing is now she is blaming Wanda Sykes…because the best way to prove you aren’t a racist is to blame everything you did on the closest black woman.

The President of the United States weighs in:
@realDonaldTrump
3h3 hours ago
Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that “ABC does not tolerate comments like those” made by Roseanne Barr. Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn’t get the call?
You have to admit, he makes a good point.
And why does that homophobic bigot Joy Ann Reid still have a show on MSNBC?
Double standard? You betcha.
Mandrake
Definitely there’s a double standard. Joy Reid, who I now think is on her way out, has hung onto her job for several weeks. Maybe it’s because she’s Afro American. Barr lasted less than 24 hours. I find it intriguing that Queerty has not posted a single article about Samantha Bee calling the POTUS’s daughter a C–T, but several articles on Barr. Hannity on Fox has also held onto his job despite never disclosing he was a client of Michael Cohen, and Kimberly Gilfoyle on Fox still opines favorably on everything Trump despite she’s dating Donald Trump Jr.
