RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Ross Mathews has tied the knot with his partner, Wellinthon Garcia. The men got married on Saturday in Mexico. The event, at the Almar Resort in Puerto Vallarta in front of 110 guests, was covered by People magazine.
The location was exactly the same place where the couple first met two years ago.
Mathews told The Knot last month he spotted Garcia by the hotel pool one morning and sauntered over to introduce himself, saying, “Hi, I’m Ross Mathews.” Garcia had no idea who he was, so simply replied, “Hi, I’m Dr. Wellinthon Garcia.”

Besides RPDR, Mathews is known for his appearances on The Drew Barrymore Show. This led to Barrymore playing a special role at the ceremony.
“I was on The Drew Barrymore Show,” Mathews told People. “One day we were doing a story about weddings and she asked me, ‘Are you going to have a flower girl at my wedding?’ And I’m like, ‘Why? You want the gig?'”
“And she was like, ‘Oh! Are you asking me to be your flower girl?’
“I was like, ‘Do you want to be?’ She goes, ‘Are you serious?’ I’m like, ‘Are you serious?’ And she’s like, ‘I’m so serious.’ So she’s our flower girl!”

Both Mathews and Garcia have spoken before of losing their respective mothers in the last couple of years. Representing both sets of parents, Garcia’s father walked both men down the aisle together.

Matthews says the couple plan to spend a few days in Puerto Vallarta with their guests before enjoying some time alone.
“Afterwards, we’re going to Las Alamandas resort. It’s remote, just outside of Puerto Vallarta. We’ll stay there for a few days.”

Last month, Matthews and Garcia told The Knot about how they met and the plans for their Mexico wedding, although they did not reveal the date.
Garcia is based in New York. Mathews spends his time either in the city for the Drew Barrymore Show, or at the couple’s Palm Springs residence when he has work in Los Angeles.
He told The Knot he believes it’s important to step up as a role model, which is why he revealed his engagement news on the Drew Barrymore Show.
“We don’t need any more attention. Wellinthon doesn’t seek it—he’s an educator. But we chose, purposefully, to talk about our wedding because we didn’t have that example growing up. So if we can, by announcing our engagement on The Drew Barrymore Show or sharing our love story on the cover of The Knot? These are mainstream [outlets]. We know there will be kids out there who look at this and see it as perfectly wonderful. Screw normal! Wonderful.”
