Three Things You NEVER Knew About RuPaul

Video Transcription:

“The first thing is I have a little donkey named Jimmy that I sleep with every single night, and I found Jimmy on the street – a stuffed donkey – and that was 1986. I’ve had Jimmy that long. And, by the way, Jimmy is missing one eye and Jimmy was probably 25 years old by the time I got him, so there’s more math for you to do, OK.

“So, another thing that you may not know about me is that I am Judge Judy FREAK. A Judge Judy freak. Only Judy can judge me. I watch it every single day and I love it, but I don’t watch any of the other judge shows.

“Another thing that you probably don’t – I’m sure you don’t know – about me is that I started driving a car when I was 11 years old. It’s true! I’ve always loved cars – I still love cars. I’m a big car freak, but my father on summers we would – I’m from San Diego – we would come up here to Los Angeles area and spend the summer with my father. Well, we were living down in Cerritos, which is about 25 miles south of Hollywood where we are now, and my father would go to work at Best Foods – they make mayonnaise things and peanut butter and things like that. I don’t even know if they are still in business. They probably are. They’re probably bought up by some other big conglomerate. Well anyway – he would go to work and we would be left – my sister and I – at the house. Well, I knew where the keys to his 1969 Toyota were, so I would go – and this happened several times – I would go get the key, take the car – he lived in this track home area – and I would take the car out and drive it around this area, but I would only make right turns ’cause I was too afraid to make a left turn. I would just drive in circles. My sister Razi – I was 11, my sister Razi is 10. But there was one time I did make a left turn. Somehow I got caught up where I had to make a left turn. And I could only imagine what it was like for the car next to us to look – just sort of causally look over and see who’s making a left turn – and it’s an 11-year-old and a 10-year-old behind the wheel of a car gonna make a left turn. Could you imagine!? Can you imagine! So, I’ve been driving that long and I love to drive – except, you know, in traffic and stuff.

“Those are three things that you may not know about me. In the meantime, you can hear a lot of these stories on my podcast, which is available on iTunes for free and Stitcher.com for free. It’s lots of stories, lots of inspirational tidbits here and there. It’s called ‘RuPaul: What’s The Tee? With Michelle Visage,’ so check that out. Until next time, this is RuPaul backstage at the Queen Latifah Show. See ya! Byeeeeeeeeee!”
