RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has been commissioned for a second season.

The British version of the show, which features RuPaul and regular judge Michelle Visage, is currently midway through its first run. It screens on the BBC’s streaming channel, BBC3. In the US, it’s currently streaming on Wow Presents Plus and airing on Logo.

RuPaul’s Drag Race began in 2009 in the US and has enjoyed huge success, spawning multiple seasons, All-Stars spin-offs, and picking up several Emmy awards in the process.

A Drag Race Thailand premiered in 2018, and a Canadian version is also in the works. However, the UK version is the first international franchise to include Mama Ru as host.

News of the show being recommissioned was broken by its production company, World of Wonder.

It says an eight-week season has been commissioned and that the first series has already broken BBC streaming records, with episodes streamed over 6.5 million times.

Michelle Visage tweeted: “HERRRRRRRRE WE GO! That’s right Queens, there’s going to be a Series Two of #DragRaceUK! All you need to apply is Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent.”

2020 is shaping up to be a very busy year for Drag Race. Besides Drag Race UK and season 12 of the original Drag Race in the US, you can also look forward to All-Stars Season 5 and a celebrity version of the show.
