When RuPaul’s DragCon was first announced, it was touted as the first ever convention that celebrates the art of drag, queer culture and self-expression for all. Already promising to be a weekend with the largest ever gathering of drag queens and gay icons, DragCon will feature many of the contestants from all seven seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race, as well as drag icons Lady Bunny, Peaches Christ, and porn empress-turned-DJ, Chi Chi LaRue. Recently, several celebrity guests were added to the line-up.
Joining RuPaul on the weekend of May 16 and 17 will be current RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Ross Mathews, original Dreamgirls star Sheryl Lee Ralph, and lead singer of Berlin, Terri Nunn. Also appearing will be dance music divas Martha Wash and Linda Clifford, and former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks.
The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (G.L.O.W.) will be on hand to provide some ‘80s nostalgia. There will also be a panel presentation led by Sister Roma and her fellow Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
As guests continue to be added to the line-up, RuPaul himself made a special announcement via Twitter when he revealed that he will deliver a keynote address on Sunday, May 17.

The ladies of G.L.O.W. Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling had the FIRST drag queens characters I ever saw on TV! I loved this now cult phenomenon 80/90’s show! Some amazing ladies all of whom have always been super supportive of their GLBT fans!

Why wasn’t it mentioned in the article where this was being held? Granted, it was easy to visit the website and find out it’s at the Los Angeles convention center…but I needn’t have bothered had I read it in the article.
It looks like fun, and were it closer to Philadelphia I’d consider going just for Linda Clifford!

I wonder if the Jazz hands third wave feminists are going to protest. Might be fun to watch.
