On the grand spectrum of scandals, having an adult entertainment past ranks right up there with, say, racking up $700 in credit card debt and then paying it off over a reasonable amount of time. Busted.
However, the former certainly makes for a better pics-or-it-didn’t-happen moment.
And that’s the second-hour angle to Russell Tovey‘s engagement announcement. Fun!

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
This morning we learned that Tovey is set to marry to his boyfriend, Steve Brockman.
Now we’re discovering that in addition to being a rather good-looking former rugby player, Brokman is also a rather good-looking former adult entertainer who went by the name Ryan Stack on Randy Blue.
And, yeah, we can see the appeal:
Head here to see a whole lot more of Brockman (obviously work-unfriendly).
Dimnar
I was wondering if the gay blogosphere was going to completely ignore Steve Brockman’s work with Randy Blue.
He managed to make the Hall of Fame of Randy Blue off just four scenes, such a sexy porn star.
Billy Budd
If I were a celebrity I would also have to fulfill my needs with pornstars and prosti*utes. That is the price you pay for being famous. You can’t get real people to love you. It is always about the money. Look at the late George Michael. He was with a handsome hoo*er when he died.
jpcolter
What a crock of shit. Not a true word in your entire comment.
dwes09
Live in the real world much? Or is your imagination in control all the time?
Eiswirth
So a celebrity can’t get “real people” to love them? On my planet they can. Perhaps George Michael was with a hooker when he died (no idea if that’s true or not); how does that proves your point? Ridiculous. Every guy or woman who works in the adult entertainment world is a real person with real problems and real debts, just like everybody else. Tovey’s fiance isn’t working in the porn industry now, so is he “real?” And you know for a fact their relationship is based on money, not love? Are you for real?
frankcar1965
Call it what it is- Legal prostituion, there is no “adult entertainment” you are a hooker who just does not do it on the street. I like porn but I call it what it is, hookers and whores.
Danny595
Who cares? So long as it is in the past and he is now committed to a monogamous marriage (the only kind there is), it’s all good.
sf_italianboi
considering the amount of promiscuous sex and drugs they probably have access to, I seriously doubt monogamy is on the table (and many healthy marriages are not monogamous anyway) these two are so young and hot, they should be fucking everything that walks. if they’re serious about being married, they should step out of the lime light and build a life where they can focus on each other. right now they’re just two more thirst traps on IG
Brody
I give it a year—two, tops.
Heywood Jablowme
@Danny: Sorry but they’re not going to play canasta with you and your monotonous husband on Saturday nights.
Charlie in Charge
“Who cares? So long as they are happy.”
I fixed it for you.
frankcar1965
“committed to a monogamous marriage” at least that’s what you want to believe. Your husbands might have laid down with me and I’d do it again, if I don’t someone else will. You just THINK he’s monogamous.
Polaro
“Secret”. Not much of a secret. Rake that muck.
Lacuevaman
who ever stared calling folks who have sex on film or video “stars” should be flogged.
Tête Carrée
I know. It’s kind of a reflex.
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
It’s not that big a deal ultimately. Just…I dunno…kinda unfortunate when viewed in the wider picture of how the porn industry, its MONEY and influence has inveigled its way into the lgbt media, activism and gay culture (to a degree inconceivable vis-a-vis heterosexuality) and all under the convenient guise of “sex positivity” (a good thing)…but in reality conflated with “sleaze culture” (to which I proffer the analogous “art” definition: difficult to define; but one knows it when one sees it). Tovey is a top bloke (no pun intended) and that’s all that matters. I wish them well.
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
Conflated with “Sleaze positivity”*
Evji108
It’s the kind of arrangement you sort of expect from celebrities. Marrying a former porn star is on the face of it, possibly not the strongest foundation for a marriage, but the bar for celebrity unions is pretty low regardless of sexuality. I wish them well, hope it all works out for them.
Godabed
Russell tovey, is not someone I care to think about he was one of my favorite actors until he let his true colors show , but his partner makes total sense for him. Considering his thoughts on looking weak and being feminine due to his internalized homophobia and misogyny. good for him on his engagement but i don’t care.
Josh447
“that’s showbiz”.
stranger2myself
It’s everyone’s dream to marry a guy that’s porn career will be a silent secret within friends and family. It’s not that his family won’t check those videos. But then I have more respect for him than for Tovey. At least he’s not an attention seeking queen, a star of one show.
Brody
Yeah, sure, because porn actors are so grounded, they’re bound to make for a great monogamous unions. I’m sure this one will last forever and ever and ever . . .
Kangol
First, though I am not a fan of the effemophobic Russell Tovey, good for him on finding someone who appears to love him and wants to marry him. Second, why are people concerned about whether he and his porn actor husband are in a monogamous marriage? They should create the kind of relationship that works for them. If it’s open, closed, flexible, whatever, it’s their business. They’re consenting adults, let them live their lives as they see fit.
Aires the Ram
@Kangol: Bingo!! You hit the nail right on the head. Almost all gay men look at porn, jerk off to porn, to some degree or another. Why is it, when confronted with a real person who just so happens to be hot enough to actually DO porn, do so many of us, {as evidenced by the above comments}, denigrate the person who did the porn? Seems a bit hypocritical doesn’t it? There are a lot of things a gay guy may have done, or does, for a living that holier-than-though queens would look down upon. What if this guy was a construction worker, or worked in an auto factory, or was a garbage man, or dug trenches for new home foundations, any such thing?? Can you imagine what kind of sniping would go on then? All this is, is class warfare.
Ummmm Yeah
So you’ll report on this but continue to cover up that the trans activist Andi Dier who verbally attacked Rose McGown has been accused by several women of raping them when they were very young teens.
Brody
Heresy!
Due to their tremendous courage and unparalleled beauty, trans people are immune from criticism of any sort (unless it’s Caitlyn Jenner, of course, who committed the unforgivable crime of being a conservative trans, so she’s fair game).
Ummmm Yeah
Exactly. They have been granted immunity from all the damage they do to the gay rights movement. So who exactly granted these outsiders entry into the movement and who granted them immunity?
Kangol
I usually disagree with what you post, but I do think that Queerty should report on this if it happened and has been reputably reported on.
Charlie in Charge
Unless you are trying to tell me you never watch porn, why do some of you have such a sneering attitude about the men who work in the porn industry. You reap the benefit of their work and then you want to deny them full humanity and acceptance in the community because… it slightly embarrasses you when a porn actor appears in the limelight for straight people to see?
gayjim1969
Bravo, Charlie! The hypocrisy of some in the gay community regarding gay porn actors is interesting to me; they lust after their bodies, envy their sexual power and experiences, and dream of a night of intimacy with them, but they condemn them for their choices–even performing in the adult industry, which the denouncer eagerly views.
You have likely noticed a common theme in many negative comments directed toward porn actors on Queerty–calling them (politely) “sex workers” or “prostitutes”; A common coping mechanism people use to deal with this type of dilemma, an attraction to those we see as morally corrupt/unworthy, is to distance themselves. “I’m not like them…I would never make those decisions or find myself in that situation.”
That type of victim-blaming is common across the board; just look at Trump’s comments after the Florida school shooting, blaming the teachers, students, shooter’s neighbors–everyone but the shooter and availability of semi-automatic weapons.
gabbym
I wish Russell good luck. Hope he is happy with his intended husband.
paul dorian lord fredine
i’m with you. all the haters here smell of jealousy because they just can’t believe people, especially two men, can find happiness.
phallictomato
A secret isn’t a secret if it’s known. Also, who gives a fuck if his fiance has had an adult film history – regardless of whether it’s in the past, or is current? We ALL have to sell ourselves and put ourselves out there to make a living. Most of us do it with our clothes on, but some do it with their clothes off. Who gives a shit?
I get pissed off when people talk shit about adult film/pornstars. Just remember that most of the world jack off to images and videos of pornstars. So think twice next time you point the finger, Queerty. Having a history of being in the adult entertainment industry is nothing to be ashamed of. They make people happy, they fulfill fantasies, they get paid just like everyone else, and they’re amazing people.
paul dorian lord fredine
if you can find pix and video with a simple search i’d hardly call it a secret.
Mike_M
Once again Queerty needs click bait to run traffic to their ad revenue.
So the guy did whatever for Randy Blue. You think hi fiance’ had no idea? Please stop pretending you “discovered” a scandal. The real scandal is the slut shaming that goes on here. Look at all these sad gay men who feel they have to comment someone is a whore or a slut for making money with their looks or dick. I wonder how many f them rushed off to Google the name so they could see it for themselves. unless the man is putting his dick in you, why does your commentary matter?
Where’s the Queerty story about survivors of the Pulse Terror attack joining survivors of the Parkland terror attack and seeing the Florida house refuse to even consider a bill that would limit the use of weapons of terror? That’s an LGBT “Scandal” we should should be talking about, not something as dead common as a gay guy with his dick out.
IanHunter
I thought everyone already knew this! I certainly couldn’t be the only one.
Ttrotski
Um, gay porn is a $billion+ a year industry that relies on video and photography of its performances to be available for public and private perusal that precludes any sense of it being secret. Is President tinyhands writing your headlines?
CarlIsle
What is the shock here? The scenes Tovey filmed in Looking were soft porn. It’s not like he’s a prim and proper prince in line to the throne of England. Get over yourselves.
Tête Carrée
Every hetero-based film (otherwise known as “film”) is soft porn.
Have you followed Prince Harry’s antics? We’ve seen more of his skin than Russell Tovey’s.
