Ryan Buell + Kieron Richardson (2 TV Types You Haven’t Heard Of) Are This Week’s Newly Out Queers

A pair of minor comings out this week! Ryan Buell, who hosts A&E’s documentary series Paranormal State, comes out as bisexual (and, hah, Roman Catholic) in his upcoming book. And Kieron Richardson (pictured), the British star of Hollyoaks and a one-time Dancing On Ice competitor, came out on a morning show — perfect timing to coincide with his fictional character also going gay.

      I’m sure we already knew Kieron Richardson was gay! Maybe it was public speculation but he was a judge at Mr Gay UK (or maybe Mr Gay Manchester) and in the write up they said he was gay.

      From the Mr Gay 2008 website:

      2 of my friends from Hollyoaks the actors Kieran Richardson and Dominque Jackson also came along but Hollyoaks wouldn’t allow Kieran to be a judge as even though he’s gay he plays a straight character.

      omg! i used to watch hollyoaks and HATED his character >:( who used to beat up his pregnant girlfriend. i wonder how their gonna explain his being gay on the show….

      A bit snarky, JD. It appears that both came out voluntarily. Kieron may have a low/nonexistent profile in the US but he is quite a popular television star in the UK. Ryan may be relatively unknown but it’s great that he’s not afraid to acknowledge his sexuality publicly,
      Have any young leading men/stars on any US soaps, or prime time shows for that matter, come out since Chris Colfer acknowledged being gay on “Chelsea Lately?” Have any television hosts/presenters/newscasters come out recently? Has a recent Emmy winner acknowledged, confirmed or denied a recent “National Enquirer” story? Has Matt Boomer finally acknowledged that he’s gay and in a relationship? NO! So why bitch about the guys who have the cojones to do so?!? Shame on you.

      Kudos to Kieron and Ryan.
