The second campaign to unseat Portland’s gay mayor Sam Adams was “in disarray” through and through, and ultimately failed, missing yesterday’s deadline to turn in 32,183 valid signatures to give voters a chance to oust him, even with Sam’s ex-flame Beau Breedlove joining the effort.
Avel Gordly, the former state senator who led the effort, says they collected some 20,000 names, but were “just one mailing away from getting enough signatures to qualify,” she says. Jasun Wurster, who organized the first failed recall effort, has promised to go after Adams again. In 2012.

I respect Sam so much for standing his ground. Too many times gay people are weak and cave to haterosexual pressure. We just saw that with Ty Mansfield. Stay strong Sam!

I’m all for a good old mob lynching when the time is right, but there is nothing here to really go after. More importantly, there are better things for Portland to focus on, and better ways for it to spend it’s limited money.
