Not content to live on his considerable Will & Grace residuals, the trailer for actor Sean Hayes‘ directorial debut Lazy Susan has arrived.
In Lazy Susan casts himself as a cisgender woman, a “woman on the edge with nowhere to go but over.” Hayes, who also co-wrote the film, plays Susan as a profoundly entitled, unmotivated, and self-absorbed woman struggling to survive in a society that expects her to have a function.
Susan struggles with her own laziness, even after getting evicted from her apartment. She dreams of a man that will come along and take care of her for the rest of her life. The film marks Hayes’ first time outing as a feature film director.
Matthew Broderick, Margo Martindale and Oscar-winner Allison Janney also star. The film arrives on digital and in select theaters April 3.

So there wasn’t any actual women who could play the part?
Or maybe none of them wanted it given the synopsis makes it sound like he’s playing lazy misogynist stereotype female 101.

Where is the outrage that a gay white male actor is playing a cisgender woman? Aren’t actors now only allowed to portray characters who are an exact duplicate of ourselves? I await a deluge of angry woke judginess.
