Because New York State Sen. Joseph Addabbo was the second name called during the gay marriage roll call vote, “some” are blaming him for setting the tone among Democrats, where his “no” vote snowballed into other Democratic senators also voting no. It sounds a little preposterous to us, mostly because the New York Senate is a place where bills rarely make it to the floor without their outcome guaranteed, so we imagine Addabbo — who never promised you nothin’! — and his fellow “no”-voting senators knew about each other. Even Sen. Tom Duane might have, at the very end, known this wasn’t going his way. Either way, Addabbo is was on the defensive Friday, once again speaking to reporters, and denying this conspiracy theory.

It doesn’t matter whether he voted first or last – it matters how he voted. And I let him I’ll be sending money to his competitors in the next election.

Hey Queerty peeps: Time to start deleting these
ads like #3 which are popping up on the site as well
as the one for “black-white” hookups all last week…
Robert, NYC
The NY vote was handled very badly. What should have happened is Paterson should have taken the 8 aside privately and whipped them into an agreement to vote yes by giving them a pep talk in equality and how voting no would negatively impact the control the dems will have after November 2010 including their own and less likely chance of getting re-elected, plus fewer donations coming their way as a result of the defeat last week. I still say this was a conspiracy to railroad it at the last minute. Don’t forget, the districts these clowns represent are heavily stacked with conservative dems an republicans alike. They outnumber us and schmucks like Addabbo or any other politician aren’t going to upset them when it comes to us.
In a way, Addabbo and the other seven, plus the entire republican block are voting against the economy of our state because Connecticut, hopefully New Jersey will benefit from the millions of dollars that otherwise would have remained in financially strapped New York. I encourage all New York’s gay voters to shop in those states that have full equality if they possibly can. I encourage gay leaders to encourage gay citizens across the country to avoid New York, deprive it of its financial oxygen. Money talks after all, louder than words.

HALF the Dem traitors are Catholics, and one was found guilty today of slashing his unmarried girlfriends’s face.
TIME for NY queers and our friends to find 8 PRIMARY challengers.
Robert, NYC
Mark, I’m in agreement with that but its not going to be easy. Don’t forget, the bulk of those 8 bigots represent very conservative districts who far outnumber us.
To digress, guys, spread the word about that arch anti-equality advocate Michael Letterman who frequently trolls on this site and I’m sure others. He’s gloating over the defeat in NYS last week. Its about time Queerty booted these bastards out. They contribute nothing but hate and dehumanization of us on this site. I urge all of you to notify Queerty to do something about these neanderthals. Its bad enough that some of us face harassment in public and now we have to put up with it on here? Its not acceptable and let Queerty know. I tried not to post any comments in retaliation against him but ended up resorting to his level. Don’t let him get away with it and be on your guard. He’s an evil piece of work.

And to think I once supported this punk, the only real reason he won in that red district was because the democrats was energized due to the national election. He has a big target on head now, from both the right wanting his seat and left wanting to replace him.
Robert, NYC
Tom NYC, I only hope that he’ll be voted out in future elections. Its not going to be easy to get rid of the other seven either, their districts are overwhelmingly conservative. The only way we’re going to make any progress is to send a loud and clear message to the Democrats that in 2010 and beyond, they can no longer rely on our automatic support, both in the voting booth and in financial support, its the only leverage we have. They need to be reminded of this on a constant basis. I’ve already started by writing to my representatives on a regular basis. They either get serious about full equality or they don’t and will have to face the consequences. No more political correctness, it hasn’t worked and it never will.
