Non-profit pro-LGBTQ youth foundation The Trevor Project has sent 100 copies of A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo to the school where Karen Pence, wife of Vice President Mike Pence, has begun teaching. Pence now instructs art classes part-time at Immanuel Christian School, a facility which bans LGBTQ students and faculty.
A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo began as a parody of Marlon Bundo’s Day in the Life of the Vice President, a book penned by Mike Pence’s daughter Charlotte and illustrated by Karen Pence. TV host John Oliver promoted the parody–written by Last Week Tonight writer Jill Twiss–as a means of combatting Pence’s long history of homophobia. Whereas Pence’s book details life in the Trump White House as witnessed by a rabbit, Twiss’ book features a gay rabbit falling in love. All proceeds from A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo go to The Trevor Project and AIDS United.

Now The Trevor Project has taken the popularity of the book–which debuted in the #1 position on Amazon–to a new level.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“The Trevor Project hears from young people every day about their experiences with rejection at home and school—places where they should feel the safest,” said Amit Paley, CEO & Executive Director of The Trevor Project. “We know that lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth from rejecting families are more than eight times more likely to attempt suicide than their straight peers. We hope Immanuel Christian School will adopt policies of inclusion for LGBTQ young people that make them feel safe, accepted, and loved.”
Like the Pences, Immanuel Christian School has a long history of homophobia. The school requires faculty to sign a pledge defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman, and also stipulates “heterosexual activity outside of marriage (e.g., premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex), homosexual or lesbian sexual activity, polygamy, transgender identity, any other violation of the unique roles of male and female, sexual harassment, use or viewing of pornographic material or websites, and sexual abuse or improprieties toward minors as defined by Scripture and federal or state law.” The school also requires parents to sign an agreement which allows the school to punish or expel any student for “participating in, supporting, or condoning sexual immorality, homosexual activity or bi-sexual activity” or “promoting such practices.”
Here’s hoping some members of the school expand their minds by reading the story of Marlon Bundo.

awesomeness.

Why? They’re just going to throw all of them in the garbage. They won’t give the book a second glance. It’s just wasteful.
My hometown’s landfill (which takes garbage from about a 200-mile radius) is almost full. It’s going to change the course of the whole region. That’s the kind of problem I think about when I hear dumb pointless stories like this one.

Waste of money.
Why not send the books to a hundred schools or make a donation to an organization for abused LGBTQ
youth?
iamru2
There only interest is in being snarky and throwing shade. I understand the anger but the approach they took is juvenile.

Bravo Trevor Project. Yes the books will probably be thrown away but it is still an “in your face” move and I love it. Isn’t it amazing how so called Christians spread so much hate?
dinard38
As others have stated, this is a total waste of money. No one in that school will ever see those books other than the person who opens the box. They won’t be donated anywhere else. The school is more likely to torch them. Ha! So what’s the point of doing this???
Rock-N-RollHS
yeah, this will make a difference. . . .But amusing kamikaze theater.

Regressives never learn from history. It was the Hitler Youth that were assigned to burn the books that the Nazis found offensive. Perhaps the youths of this “school” will be given that same assignment. And possibly one or two copies of this book will be secreted away. Read and then shared with a friend and another and another. If even one child’s life is spared or made less traumatic, it is not a waste of anything. A gamble maybe but not a waste.

Why waste time and money on backwards ass people. People like the Pences and their ilk are a lost cause because they think they are better than others. They need to wake up. This type of behavior is against God’s teachings, I never cease to be amazed by so called Christians that don not seem to read or at least follow the word of God. These people are committing sin with their judgement and their sense of being above all of us who are unworthy to share the light with them. They may find that they are at the front of the line to burn for eternity and not the other way around.
Kieran
The Trevor Project must have money to burn.

Donated books do not cost the Trevor Project anything. Nice try though trying to shame a most worthwhile charity that helps at risk gay youth. Hope you are proud of yourself. Nobody else is proud of you.
