Sharon Stone Doesn’t Let Hospital Visit Stop Her From Raising $1.1 Million For AIDS Research

Glamour gal Sharon Stone hit Milan Fashion Week over the weekend, not just to check out the latest frocks but to host an amfAR charity auction that netted a cool €846,000, or about $1.1 million, for the fight against HIV/AIDS.

And she didn’t even let a trip to the emergency room slow her down.

Complaining of migraine-like symptoms on Saturday, the actress, 54, was taken to the hospital as a precaution on Saturday. But she was in fine fiddle for the fundraiser later that evening, “cracking jokes as she enticed higher bids,” according to the AP.

Designer Roberto Cavalli paid €35,000 ($45,500) for a new interpretation of the 1972 Bocca sofa shaped like lips after Stone reclined on the piece, demonstrating its comfort.

“You can kiss my ass anytime,” she joked with Cavalli, who was sitting at Stone’s table.

Other auction highlights included a 2004 Damien Hirst etching that went for €110,000 ($143,000) and a Robert Rauschenberg print that sold for €40,000 ($52,000).

Y’know, “accident”-prone celebs like Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes would do well to follow the example of this Hollywood trooper.
