When Shawn Mendes strips down, the Internet is unable to deal and quickly devolves into a gurgling, glitching stew of overheated exclamations.
The Canadian pop star was recently photographed undressing backstage, which has caused his numerous Instagram followers to freak the fuck out.
“He’s so attractive omfg,” wrote one fan. That totally passes for “freaking the fuck out,” right?

Hey, but does this beat when Shawn got all shirtless and stripped down to cover Bruno Mars” “The Lazy Song”?
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

You can take a look at more of his steamy, dreamy Instagram moments below:

How would it be remotely okay to be ogling if a female pop star was photographed undressing backstage?? Okay, Feminist Queerty, either apply one standard for everyone or shut the hell up.

Oh shut up. Men should be objectified. It’s about time.
Damn! He is hot!

Er, Queerty is a blogging site geared toward GAY MEN. So it’s only natural that they’d focus (aka oogle) on male subjects. As such, you simply don’t have any data to say that it’s not applying their policy equally to both genders. If there is a lot of interest in seeing females undress and Queerty doesn’t respond proportionately, then you may have a case. Furthermore, the photographer and photo had Mendes’ blessings, and only serve to benefit his career. Save your outrage for hidden bathroom pics and general media like People magazine.

I think Xzamilloh was referencing blogs in general and not just Queerty. Sure, Queerty is a gay blog for gay men, but if a straight blog for straight men showed pictures of a popular woman undressing backstage, the comments on Twitter wouldn’t be “steamy and dreamy”. The Twitter comments would consist of women getting triggered crying about misogyny and how gross men are for watching a woman undress. Then the blog would have to remove the pictures, issue an apology, etc.
I can’t speak for Xzamilloh but that’s how I interpreted what he wrote

I wish Shawn, and Nick Jonas, would just come out.

Patience… As soon as album/ticket sales start to dry up and they’re passed over for the next new young big thing, they’ll come out as a way to reboot their careers and start performing the Pride circuit. Tale as old as time.

To me, the important issue would be whether or not the person was unaware of or unwilling to be photographed. If they gave permission for the pictures to be taken and posted, there’s no problem with ogling.

I’m fairly certain he knew he was being photographed. Sex sells and he needs to sell records – that means stripping
Female pop stars do similar stuff with shaking their asses and showing their boobs

Shawn is one of the wonders of the world. Yes, I’m ogling. So sue me.

I don’t see it. Hotter guys walking around on the streets. Where are you obsessed guys? … Omaha? Alabama?

He is cute (and seems a nice guy) but he is very bland and he seems quite repressed.
He is resisting doing bearding but i doubt he’ll wait long before he will be in the red carpet with a fake girlfriend
crowebobby
Maybe so, but they can’t sell out Madison Square Garden in less than 5 minutes, so no one knows who they are. Shawn is 6’2″ and has a great body, which is more impressive with that cute young-boy face. Even Bieber referred to as “…fucking handsome all…” People all over the world who like boys (as I do) are obsessed.
