Shawn Mendes has personally messaged out YouTuber James Charles, assuring him that not only is Mendes not bothered by Charles’ thirsty comments, he “loves them!”
The interaction came after a social media miscommunication — Twitter must have been in retrograde.
Initially, it looked like Mendes had shut down an Instagram live session after Charles posted: “can u juggle me like that”.
Shawn Mendes recently ended his Instagram live after James Charles commented “can u juggle me like that”.
Previously at one of his album secret sessions, Shawn said he disliked him because of his creepy comments: “that dude is ALWAYS commenting weird shit on my posts.” pic.twitter.com/Er9al2U0Ac

Mendes also reportedly spoke about Charles to someone backstage at a show, saying, ” that dude is ALWAYS commenting weird sh*t on my posts.”
But it turns out he… likes it?
After the “story” broke, Charles posted an apology (it’s not his first apology, btw):
my comments on friend’s & boy’s content have always been light hearted & in a joking manner. I’ve been supporting @shawnmendes since vine & am a fan like anyone else, & would never want to make anyone uncomfortable. Im upset, embarrassed, and sorry if he felt sexually harassed.?

Mendes caught wind of the apology and set the record straight:
thank u so much @shawnmendes for clearing everything up. love u the most ? pic.twitter.com/55ANESdP5F

“Hey James! Sorry about all this, ive never said i dont like you or that you make me uncomfortable. Your comments actually make me laugh and i love them!” he wrote in a DM that was then tweeted by Charles.
So we guess the lesson here is to keep thirsting after Shawn Mendes? Does that sound right? Asking for a friend.

James Charles is just ugh, but that aside I kinda see where Shawn was coming from IF he actually said those things. I’m gay and even I don’t like it when a man or woman is overtly sexual with me and constantly pushing my boundaries like that. You can think someone is hot and lust after them fine, but there’s no need to throw lewd comments at them and basically make it into a game to see how far you can push your comments and remarks before they shut you down. Everyone wants to feel desirable and attractive, but I don’t think very many people want someone to disrespect their boundaries and verbally rape them.

Are people kidding? His comments about juggling were anodyne. People here comparing themselves to SM–I gotta laugh. He is famous, a product who markets himself through his sexuality and sexual appeal. At the same time, he clearly is doing damage control in case he be labeled a homophobe (don’t want that!) Political correctness is all one big PR game these days.

Mendez’s PR agent told him to apologies. Show that gay love.

If Queerty couldn’t use the word “thirst” it would have no content.

True, true, and triple true!!!! I’m so tired of that word.
There’s another word they overuse, but I can’t remember. Now it’s gonna bug me until I figure it out.

James Charles is harmless… he’s extra as all hell, but aren’t all of those drama-prone YouTubers. Of course tagging Shawn Mendes in the post came across as passive aggressive in my eyes because it was obvious that it was going to bring traffic ole boy’s way and how else was he supposed to respond, knowing what a gay thirst trap he is?
I definitely see the Shawn Mendes appeal, but he is way too young for my liking. Maybe when I’m 50, I’l start fiending for the young stuff lol
thisisnotreal
Yeah that’s a good way to put it he’s definitely extra as hell lol

I understand the uncomfortableness. I get those words darted at me on a daily basis and while it doesn’t offend me, it doesn’t entice or interest me either. Imagine hearing that everyday from strangers. It’s not exactly pleasurable. It’s more comical.
Godabed
He’s Basic, I don’t see why the interest in him, but he’s young, white, straight, and has muscles so that’s enough for some ppl. the music industry loves the next “it” guy. And usually that’s the criteria to be the “it” guy. I don’t care for his music either. it’s also nothing special.
He seems like a nice young man. Like Steve Grand seems to be overly sexualized for some reason.
Donston
I don’t really get the hype either. He’s cute and seems nice enough, but there’s not really anything beyond that. Also, you do wonder if he was perhaps gay and openly gay would there actually be so many gays thirsting over him.
This was clearly a clean up job from Shawn for fear of people saying he was being homophobic.

I just love social media,, don’t you? …and Now back to President Trump.
Rock-N-RollHS
lol. so true
nm4047
not overly concerned, but who is James Charles to gain a response
