I just think it’s all silly. If you’re gay, you’re gay. I’m not, and I know that and I’m very comfortable with who I am and I love women. I’ve dated plenty of them. If you think I’m gay, send your girlfriend over to my house for the weekend and see what happens. For real. You can call that arrogant if you want to. I just call it confident. You can call me whatever you want, but you don’t know me.
I have fans that are gay, men that come up to me, and they’re inspired by me, or they like me as an entertainer, and when they want to give me a hug or take pictures with me, what, am I supposed to not put my arm around them or stand next to them, and if the man next to me in the picture is gay, that makes me gay? That’s just simpleminded ignorance, and I don’t play that.”—Shemar Moore addresses all those gay rumors in an interview with BET
PrinceofReason
Why does he feel the need to address this? Ugh!
Black Pegasus
Dude you’re 40. Just stop this nonsense. No one is waiting on you to come out anymore.
ChrisK
@Black Pegasus: He’s doing the Tom Cruise, John Travolta down low deny everything crap. Wait it out till no one cares anymore.
Baba Booey Fafa Fooey
Again? Good lord, he clings to those gay rumors so desperately. He needs them to stay in the news. Can you imagine where his career would be if he really were straight? He wouldn’t be a little snippet on Queerty that’s for sure – and, that’s all he has going for him. He’ll milk these gay rumors – he needs them.
Roan
LOL he’s totes not gay and he posted his denial on Instagram along with a sweaty, oiled up half naked torso shot to prove it. So there. Baby girl.
winnie
Shemar Moore, tries too hard. Nobody is that invested in you being gay.
NateB79
To be fair, if you click on the link to the interview, the interviewer specifically asks him about the gay rumors. So he’s just responding to the question that was asked. Howere that doesn’t excuse the fact he answered the question like a tool.
jdboston617
I don’t know the actor’s work, so I don’t know anything about him.
But I don’t see anything wrong what he said.
Maybe I’m missing something???
Xzamilloh
What pesky gay rumors? The ones back in ’95 when people still cared? No one cares anymore… you had your moment.
dwes09
@PrinceofReason: “Why does he feel the need to address this? Ugh!”
The article specifically says “in an interview”. If you actually have any powers of reason, that makes it pretty clear. Like maybe the interviewer said “what about those gay rumors?”
Beachman
I have no f&*king idea who this douche bag is….who cares?
Daggerman
..get lost closet! Me thinks she doth protests too much, springs to mind.

Shemar Moore should understand that it’s normal for a man to be sexually attracted to both women and men. Absolutely normal. It’s not either/or. The relative degrees of attraction can vary substantially but that does not mean that attraction to women precludes attraction to men.
Most men won’t admit it, however, as men are not rewarded for discussing such issues. At the level of Hollywood, they are punished. At the level of their male peers, they are punished. At the level of their interactions with women, they are punished.
Curiosity about his sexuality usually comes from gay-identifying men or females. Gay-identifying men are obsessed with men’s sexuality in general. It’s an unhealthy obsession. Females want to know because men who swing both ways are “to be avoided”.
Women are very homophobic in this regard.
everybodywinsyay
@Brian: All men are not attracted sexually to other men just as all women are not attracted sexually to all women. What an absolutely bonkers comment. Wishful thinking is all this comment is.
Tobi
@Brian: I can only assume a birth memory of getting your tongue stuck to your mummy’s vagina as you slithered out must be responsible for your constant and rampant misogyny. *sigh*
Jack Meoff
I don’t think the man is gay but then again I don’t really care either way. He is pretty hot looking but now that he has left Criminal Minds I suspect his career is all but over. He doesn’t seem to have done much since then.
Brian
@everybodywinsyay: Men are highly arousable creatures. Nature designed them that way. It’s because a man has to be sufficiently energized to release the gamete from his body to the outside. In contrast, a woman does NOT need to be aroused – her gamete is NOT released from her body to the outside. She doesn’t need the energy that comes from arousal.
If you have any problem with that simple statement of fact, take it out on Mother Nature, not me.
As for the argument that straight-identifying men are naturally “bisexual”, why wouldn’t they be? Men have sex for fun. What better way to have fun than for a man to have sexual relations with another man? You don’t have to worry about getting the man pregnant for starters. Men also don’t use sex to obtain rewards, unlike women. It’s less stressful when it’s a man with another man.
Unfortunately, liberal and conservative people have designed our social rules to discourage men from admitting to the fact that they find men sexually attractive. Liberals are as much to blame as conservatives.

@Xzamilloh: We’ll be reading about him this summer when he addresses the gay rumors again.
argleflarglebargle
I love everyone getting pissed that he’s addressing this, proving that they didn’t go to check the source because you wanna know the question that got this response?
“I have to ask you about the gay rumors that keep popping up. You often take to social media refute these rumors. Why do you feel the need to address them?”
So yeah, the reason he’s addressing them is because he was asked about them. Oh no, he answered a question, how awful. Clearly him saying he’s not gay is proof that he’s gay… my god. People, we expect the straight world to take us at our word when we say being gay isn’t a choice, that Bi people exist, that trans people should be called by the pronouns of the gender that identify with and YET should one actor dare to say “I’m straight” when they are repeatedly asked if they’re gay, we don’t believe them. Kind of sick of this “Everyone’s a little bit gay” thing. It’s stupid, it makes us look pathetic, grow up.
Brian
@argleflarglebargle: I think you’re confusing identity politics with reality. Identity politics and reality are NOT one and the same thing. A person who is sexually interested in men can identify as straight – whether he is also sexually attracted to women or not sexually attracted to women.
Remember this – identity is a CHOICE. Choices are dictated by a personal desire to be seen as something you want to be seen as. The corollary of this is that choices are dictated by a personal desire to NOT be seen as something you do not want to been as.
Take-home message: the choice of identity does NOT necessarily correspond to the reality.
jag4313
He is one of the sexiest men on earth. He is so fine… until he opens his mouth.
Sluggo2007
Homey don’t play dat!!!!
Donston
These dudes still don’t know how to address these things. Less is more. And saying you have girlfriends and enjoy fvkcing women hardly equates to being not gay. You would think that the many gay people who have come out after years of marriage and making babies would have educated people by now. And of course there are plenty of gay men who sexually engage with many women just to feel less gay. You’d think this type of naïve perspective would be dead in the water by now. Why can’t these guys just say a simple, “No, I’m not homosexual”. Anything more than that is gonna come off messy if not homophobic.
And here we go with this “bi-guy” nonsense. Homos, please let it go. Just because a “straight guy” will have sex with you does not make him bi. Anyone can have sex with anyone, especially if they’re narcissistic. Narcissistic straight men often seek out attention from gay men. That’s nothing new. These dudes ain’t bi. They don’t have genuine sexual attraction, desire and fantasy for opposite cis genders. It’s self-denial, curiosity, fetish and mostly the narcissistic ego that drives homo and hetero men to want to continuously indulge in bi-sexual behavior. It’s not sexual orientation.
And yes, the misogyny is beyond tiresome, especially since many women also push the “bi guy” agenda. Get over your “most straight guys are actually bi” agenda. There is no real evidence and at this point it’s coming off very pathetic and woman-hating (yet, you have the nerve to accuse other guys of being obsessed?). Just enjoy having sex with your “straight guy friends” and keep it moving.
Roan
@Tobi:
How do you get your tongue stuck to your mum’s vagina? Is this a thing? Can this happen? I’m beyond mortified and thinking about looking into therapy.
Roan
@Donston:
TRUTH
“…and mostly the narcissistic ego that drives homo and hetero men to want to continuously indulge in bi-sexual behavior. It’s not sexual orientation.”
Hypersexuality.
Kangol
@Baba Booey Fafa Fooey: Actually, he’s got the fact that he’s gorgeous also going for him. But he does love to “address” these gay rumors quite a bit. Hey, if it keeps him in the news and as a result in the public eye, meaning he’ll earn a few more $$$, what’s the problem? He isn’t anti-gay, which is the important point.
jjose712
@argleflarglebargle: The problem is not that, the problem is that he is addressing the gay rumours constantly. Yes, he was questioned this time but frankly with the million times he talk about this you could expect a better response.
Nobody cares if Shemar is gay or not, and unless he could manage to come out in fashion like Wentworth Miller, he better stays in the closet
Captain Obvious
I forgot Shemar Moore still thinks people think he’s straight. Even my sister with no gaydar knows he’s gay. In fact she’s the one who told me he was gay because he was never on my radar and I never really paid any attention to him.
Young Timer
Not to worry, SHE-mar.
If I had a girlfriend, I would definitely not send her to your house, not because of what you might do to her.
It’s more of what you might GIVE to her.
Those nasty STD’s are a bitch.
You are, after all, an actor.
Nothing to see here, sisters.
Move along.
