Shirley MacLaine Is Coming Back To “Downton Abbey,” But O’Brien Isn’t

Shirley-MacLaine-Downton-Abbey-PBSPBS has announced that Shirley MacLaine is coming back to Downton Abbey next season, resuming her role as Lady Cora’s no-b.s. mom, Martha Levinson. She joins several other additions to the cast, including opera singer, Kiri Te Kanawa, Harriet Walter (Sense & Sensibility), Julian Ovenden, Joanna David, Nigel Harman (EastEnders) and Tom Cullen, who appeared in the critically acclaimed gay drama, Weekend.

Cullen will play Lord Gillingham, an old family friend of the Crawleys (and maybe a new love interest for the widow Mary?)

Sadly actress Siobhan Finneran, a.k.a. crotchety baby-killer O’Brien is leaving the show.  Who will stir the shit now that she and Thomas are gone from Downton?

@Caleb in SC: Yeah, I didn’t think Thomas was gone either. But, we must remember, this is Queerty and accuracy really just isn’t their thing.
