Anthony Callea caused a bit of stir when he came out earlier this year. The Australian Idoler consistently and persistently denied his homosexuality until a radio show hot inadvertently opened the closet door. Now that he’s out, however, Callea claims to be a happier chap.
Callea explains:
I used to have this barrier up, part of me was scared. Releasing that weight off my shoulders has made me feel comfortable with myself; comfortable with anyone around me too. It’s a lot easier for me to walk into a room. There are no secrets any more.”
What does Callea have to say to gay people hiding behind a straight facade? “You only live once, so why try to live a completely different life?” If only some American Idols knew that, huh?

Hi.
I’m an Aussie, and thought that perhaps a correction re: Callea “consistently and persistently” denying his Homosexuality was in order.
Apart from the first denial at very start of his career, when at age 21 and a total neophyte with the media, (and not yet completely out to his full circle of family and friends) Anthony did not continue to deny his homosexuality at all, he just totally refused to discuss his personal life in any way.
Thanks š
