The queer internet let out a collective eye roll this week after alleged photos of former antigay GOP Congressman Aaron Schock partying with a group of shirtless men at Coachella surfaced online.
Then Queerty obtained a photo allegedly showing Schock in a full lip lock with another dude, his hand searching for something down the front of the guy’s pantalones.
Then we obtained a video of it.
Given that, when he wasn’t misappropriating campaign funds, Schock spent the bulk of his short political career actively fighting against LGBTQ causes, the whole thing has people justifiably annoyed, offended, and confused.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
It’s also left many wondering: Who are these dudes hanging out with him? And why?!
Which leads us to the topic of white gays. It’s something we’ve covered many times before.
Related: Who, me?! 27 telltale signs you might be a “white gay”
Urban Dictionary defines a “White Gay” as:
The “Gay best friend” typically portrayed on sitcoms screaming “OH MY GOD GURL YAAAS”. An unbearable cis queen, everything they do or say has to be over-dramatic. A White Gay, like a White Feminist, is not exclusively White or Homosexual, the only definitive traits are the endless spouting of Tumblr or urban slang and “controversial” propaganda/topics in hopes of getting attention. Most likely a twink, with no conscience of privilege or minority struggles (most likely sexist although they try to act like black women).
Just to be clear, there’s a difference between being a “white gay” and being white and gay. Plenty of gay men who happen to be white don’t fit the description of a “white gay” and that’s great. Hats off to them.
OK, hats back on.
Since the pictures of Schock emerged, many have been calling out the other white gays in the photos for being, well, exactly that. White gays.
While there’s always the possibility these dudes don’t know who Schock is, chances are they do and they’re willing to overlook his homophobic past, which he has yet to acknowledge or apologize for, because he’s got a cute face and a six pack, not to mention his Miss Vanjie impersonation is hilarious.
Now, we’re not interested in identifying or doxing these men. (Honestly, it would be near impossible given that they all look exactly the same.) We are, however, interested in the dialogue that’s been happening around the situation. Many are using it as yet another example of how toxic masculinity and white supremacy still prevail in the gay community.
Of course, the question now is: Where do we go from here?
Here’s what folks are saying…
Aaron Schock is proof that hot white gays only care about their own vapid, bigoted kind.
— red narth blue narth (@1Narth2Narth) April 19, 2019
Aaron Schock is something else. But the dissent from those who defend him are a reminder that white gay men often operate as white men first, entitled second, gay third and members of the LGBTQ “community” about seventeenth.
— Phillip Henry (@MajorPhilebrity) April 17, 2019
Video of antigay former Rep. Aaron Schock, feeling up a hot shirtless man at Coachella. He voted against every law protecting LGBT people, but he gets away with it ’cause he’s cute with abs & hot white gays don’t care if they get to nail you. https://t.co/zFJUzLnNdl
— Jim David (@ComicJimDavid) April 18, 2019
I’m so glad everyone is calling out Aaron Schock, but have you tried confronting your *local* toxic white gay? equally important tbh.

He just wants another white masc guys. No anti-Discrimination and makes him easier to say “no fat, no fem, no Asians”
— y (@mrqoz) April 19, 2019
I wonder if they’d have let #AaronSchock in their photo (and subsequently posted it online) if he wasn’t white, had a perfectly symmetrical face and had abs? ??
I think not.

White Gays™? of Twitter really went extra terrible today. White people cannot experience racism, and Aaron Schock is a disgusting republican.
— Kevin Atkinson (@IKEAtkinson) April 17, 2019
Of course Aaron Schock was at Coachella with his hand down a guy’s pants while making out.
I’ve appreciated people saying the group of gays he was with need to hold him accountable for his vehimently anti-LGBTQ votes in Congress. But, repeat after me: WHITE GAYS ARE WHITE FIRST

“There is nothing impossible to him who attends Coachella with white masc4masc bros”
— coleyconsortium (@coleyconsortium) April 19, 2019
The fact that West Hollywood is safer for Aaron Schock than it was for Gemmel Moore just really reinforces how invested white gays are in white supremacy. Aaron Schock shouldn’t feel comfortable showing his face in WeHo. Gemmel should have felt free here, instead he was murdered.
— Twerk-Bajir (@JoePGould) April 18, 2019
Aaron Schock is the perfect example of whats wrong within the gay community. This man votes against lgbt protections/marriage equality but still gets dick because people in our community will HAPPILY ignore dangerous rhetoric coming out of any white gay with abs. #AaronSchock
— Johnny (@iPhauk) April 18, 2019
One thing I really don’t get about the gays who betray their values to make out with Aaron Schock: he literally could not look any more indistinguishable if he tried. Spend even five minutes in any gay bar in America and you’ll meet at least ten white gays who look just like him!
— Chris Stedman (@ChrisDStedman) April 17, 2019
In my opinion you are one of those white materialistic gay man that isn’t worth the ink on your birth certificate. You are a thief and self hating gay. #GoAway

What more can we do? If your weekly article celebrating them by showing 30 shirtless Instagram posts of them hasn’t solved the problem, nothing will.
AgainNagain
What kind of country are we living in now that we don’t even have the freedom to hang out with people we choose to be with? This dangerous mafia mentality is why out society is so polarized today. Everybody insists that others support their belief but they are not willing to tolerate others’ belief.
TheMarc
Love every word of your post!

@AgainNagain
Oh look, once again the troll that regularly defends bigots is weeping because bigots are exposed.
Catholicslutbox
Someone said she ran into them and asked them for a photo.

I like some members of the gay community just like I like some members of the straight community but why oh why when you come into some money the family and then the gays have their hands out.
Mainere
@DCguy Not defending Aaron, but criticizing the people he hangs out with?? Really? Does he not deserve to have friends? You’re basically implying for him to kill himself, while not outright saying it. Criticize Aaron but don’t immediately antagonize the people he is associated with especially if you know nothing about them.
mr guy
“Just to be clear, there’s a difference between being a “white gay” and being white and gay. Plenty of gay men who happen to be white don’t fit the description of a “white gay” and that’s great. Hats off to them.”

It’s a deliberate racialised term and a dog whistle..no a klaxon..but for why??? You deliberately divisive idiots must be bored
Jason
I agree with you! Amazing how racist people commenting are and the article and they seem justified and entitled to hate us “white gays”. F them.
youarederanged
Nice racist headline here with a racist article to back it up.
mydude
There’s no racism here. Pointing out “white gays” who sell out the LGBT community is hardly “racist”. It’s only racist because they’re being called out on their bullshit. Have a seat.
batesmotel
It is racist if you bring out race. It’s the same as saying toxic black gays.
Jason
Definitely racist article
Jboo
In other words, and perhaps what Graham Gremore is trying to get at here, is that if you’re gay and not a liberal social justice warrior, you are therefore a racist, homophobic, bigoted, privileged, neo nazi, who probably punches blind crippled children for fun.
This article perpetuates the ideal that we should demonize, alienate, and ostracize those we do not share political opinions with. And that my friends is called ignorance and intolerance. Mr Shock had every right to support the political initiatives he did, as you have every right to disagree and oppose him. “Privilege” – here best understood as rights – cuts both ways. Imagine that. You can hold opposing political beliefs AND still manage to have a relationship with someone.
More to the point, if you want to change someone’s perspective, would you not wish to invite them into your culture? Would you not want to embrace your ideals and practices? Or is that too revolutionary a concept?
“Many are using it as yet another example of how toxic masculinity and white supremacy still prevail in the gay community” – No. Not many. Just queerty editors it would seem. But on that note I have to get back to work — err, I mean, my clan meeting. Because of course, if you’re not a liberal you’re practically the grand dragon – are you not?
iamru2
Well said!
mydude
“In other words, and perhaps what Graham Gremore is trying to get at here, is that if you’re gay and not a liberal social justice warrior, you are therefore a racist, homophobic, bigoted, privileged, neo nazi, who probably punches blind crippled children for fun.”
You come here sounding like a trump supporter LOL let’s make one thing clear to you: if you support anti-LGBT, racist policies, politicians who vote and support such, you will get cussed out. You believe you should have it both ways.
BTW, Liberals don’t want Aaron, OK? What with this trope with conservatives that anytime you’re criticized it’s because you’re “not a liberal social justice warrior,” we don’t need you for that! We have plenty.
AgainNagain
Mydude, this black-and-white, my way or highway, you are either an ally or an enemy mentality is so much like the rightwing nutjob’s thinking. You can of course live in your own bubbles but what a sad existence it must be!
BustnMyNut
You are spot on!
jayjay333
That is insane. So, if you are a Jew (like I am) and Hitler is my next door neighbor, I should invite him over to dinner and sent him gifts on his birthday? Hell. No! I’m going to shun him and criticize him as much as possible.
I don’t care so much if Schock is a Republican – there are some members of the GOP who are fiscally conservative but socially liberal. But Schock’ voting record was so horribly anti-gay, it is hard to forgive him. etc. It’s bad enough when you have the majority of heteros in Congress voting against your rights but then when a gay person does it? Gay people feel betrayed.
I’m not sure why you don’t understand that? I guess you are someone who sends muffin baskets and flowers to the gay bashers after they attack you….
DCguy
And just to clarify, when you say “not a liberal social justice warrior”, you mean somebody who opposes civil rights for LGBT people and supports bigotry.
Mainere
Everybody who’s defending Graham Gremore clearly hasn’t seen his previous posts on here. I don’t know how he is still not fired, is he paying Queerty or had them at gunpoint? I don’t know.
But Graham is not even a good writer. Filled with hate and bias and letting it reflect through his work is very unprofessional. This guy uses his emotions not his intellect.
iamru2
Graham is a racist and I suspect he’s jealous of the studs in the pick! Off topic Schock is s tiny little guy he looks like a skinny boy next to those hot men!
AgainNagain
Lots of gays like slim and short guys as long as they are masculine looking. Why you think being slim is a problem is beyond me.
iamru2
I didn’t say it was a problem! I’m pointing out how he looks compared to the other guys!

Oh my God, if you are going to post the same stupid post 50 times a day, can you at least come up with a different opening than “oh look”?
BornTo
@ DCGUY you are really kind of creepy and borderline psychotic.

@DCguy
Oh look, DCguy started another comment with “Oh look, another account…” and then cried more

He’s white and has dated white men. I very much doubt he’s “racist”. Aren’t you one of those whiney snowflakes who constantly complains about that word being thrown around too casually? How hypocritical of you.
DCguy
Sweeties, if you weren’t right wing troll accounts continually defending anti-LGBT bigotry my posts wouldn’t bother you now would they?
I’ll make a deal, you guys stop coming onto LGBT websites to defend bigots and I’ll stop calling you out on it.

So in regards to DCguy’s logic
>Claims to call out bigotry
>Sees no problem demonizing “white gays” as toxic, entitled, and sick individuals
Chrisk
“Twerk-Bajir
Gemmel should have felt free here, instead he was murdered.”
Gremmel Moore was a crystal meth addict murdered by himself. What a dumb Drama queen.
Donston
Let’s not act as if self-hate and internalized homophobia have become a white guy thing. Furthermore, Aaron is not gay identifying and we don’t know the identity of any of the other men he was hanging out with. Don’t force him on gays then turn around an article later and about respecting people’s identities and resisting referring to people as “gay” unless they themselves embrace it . On the other hand, constantly praising the sexual appeal of masculine, hard bodied white men but then looking to constantly criticize an entire demo because some don’t fit into your standards of a “good gay”- yeah, that’s not a good look. Even many non white people can see through the placating and hypocrisy.
Donston
I also don’t understand why we’re supposed to care so much about Schock and yet be indifferent towards many “queers” and “allies” attending and supporting a festival that has a founder who is anti gay and contributes to borderline hate groups. The whole conveniently picking and choosing when to be outraged is partly why it’s hard to take of the outrage seriously.
Chrisk
That’s a good point Don. I would never go to this festival anymore than I would go to Chick-fil-A. The owner is a right-wing bigot that funds right-wing causes. Your money that you spend there directly supports all that shit.
Niw we’re supposed to be shocked that Aaron and his white gay friends are there all buddy buddy. Please.
Brian
Ok, this is a devil advocate question, but you made me think. The whole concept of how you identify came about because of the belief that however you choose to identify yourself is what you are. If a biological male or female can choose to identify as no gender, why can’t a guy who likes to make out with, and grope another guy, and wears sassy teal belts, identify as straight? We all know that people’s sexuality has PLENTY of gray areas, so who are we to tell this flamer that he’s not straight?
Donston
“Gay” was a term that became popular not to reflect homosexuality or even being sexually homo-leaning but to reflect overall passions, affections, romantic love and relationship ambitions. It’s an identity that became popular so people could detach themselves from “homo”. Only in the last twenty years have people tried to connect “gay” with homosexual, and it’s been a fairly problematic thing. Hell, there are plenty of homosexual people who don’t even see themselves as “gay”. While a decent amount of non-homosexuals do. “Toxic masculinity”, gay shame, internalized homophobia, having anti-gay beliefs, having superiority or inferiority complexes are just as much of a problem for many guys who claim bi/pan/queer/fluid “pride”. Therefore, I don’t see how Aaron becomes a “white gay” issue when he’s not even publicly gay identifying or open about having same-sex preferences and ambitions. Beyond that, there’s no doubt he’s a hypocritical, f-ed in the head man and that the dudes hanging out with him are likely narcissistic InstaHoes.
Inspector 57
“Aaron is not gay identifying”
Look. I don’t care about philosophical rants about “gay” identity. Save your eloquent, theoretical, irrelevant posts for some more academic website.
The guy had his hand down some other dude’s shorts.
He’s gay.
It doesn’t matter to me how he “identifies.”
Aires the Ram
Spot-on!! Thank you Donston.
Chrisk
Yes because this is the perfect opportunity to tell those “white gays” how much we hate them.!! 🙁
MikeInWeHo
Can’t believe there was a time when I wanted so badly to be part of this crowd. Managed to achieve that for about a week before I realized how absolutely awful they are. As Courtney Act sang, they’re the Mean Gays.
ShiningSex
Too much hate within the LGBT community. It’s quite sad. I just want to punch those idiots.
sfcarlos65
Yes, I imagine there are quite a few mean gays out there and there is indeed too much hate within the LGBT community: But I can tell you that after 32 years as an out, gay, Mexican, disabled man, mean people are in all aspects of the LGBT community. I have gotten mean looks and have had been treated rudely from many different people, who were not, “white and privileged”.
DCguy
Completely coincidentally…the thing behind them in the photo looks like a Ku Klux Klan hood.
truthseeker
Oh look. DCguy seems normal every day objects (in this case a mock space shuttle) and his brain immediately goes to it coincidentally being a symbol of racism.
So predictable
DCguy
@truthseeker
LOL! You trolls aren’t even TRYING to hide anymore. Look here, the same troll account that routinely and angrily defends every Republican bigot gets angry because I mockingly mentioned the KKK.
How interesting that you defend Republicans AND the Klan. Oh wait, no it isn’t, they’re basically the same thing at this point. You trolls aren’t that smart are you?
truthseeker
Oh look. DCguy accuses people of not being smart when he’s the one whose brain automatically sees Klan hoods when looking at the tops of space shuttles. Then accuses every Republican, which many in the armed forces defending our country are Republican, as being equivalent to Klans people.
The thinking cap must not be working today.
Black Pegasus
My definition of the “white gay” is of someone who is vapid, narcissistic and slightly bigoted. If you fall into that category then find the time and space to correct yourself.
The guys in the photo are definitely “white gays.” The first guy on the far left is a middle manager for Delta Airlines (His boyfriend is also in the photo). He’s also obsessed with Crossfit and Gay Circuit parties. He made his Instagram private after his name was published along side that pig Aaron Schock.
iamru2
How dare you!!! Who the f do you think you are? Karma is a bitch buddy! I’m no Schock supporter but I’m not going to try and ruin people who associate with him! You are one sick MF!
iamru2
Oh and forgot to say your a racist too!
Chrisk
I don’t understand the purpose of exposing them. We don’t know if they share the same ideology. They probably just saw a hot guy at some event.
Inspector 57
Thank you, Black Pegasus, for calling out the vapid, narcissistic, and bigoted gay jerks who are pictured.
Delta Airlines is the major sponsor of Motor City [Detroit] Pride, which is a wonderful event. Jerk Left (“Let me be photographed with other vapid and self-centered queens!”) is not representative of Delta’s commitment to the LGBTQ community.
batesmotel
Your statement is ironic because it’s bathed in hypocrisy, self-righteousness and double standards. You manage to hit every toxic adjective available and invented some new ones in the process.
SportGuy
This pile of trash and his nazi cronies are pathetic hypocrites, and there is no fixing them because you can’t fix stupid.
Beachman
Vapid people like this eventually take care of themselves, and (at least in my experience) generally live short, shallow lives. I just ignore them…as all they really live for is attention.
Rock-N-RollHS

Otherwise, I love me some good toxic fun! Is there any other kind??
ShiningSex
yeah there is more to life than toxic people. get a life.
bowlingbutch
It is not just white guys but is every gay person willing to forget and forgive the people who worked against us because we have won that fight. The people who never actually fought the discrimination or for our rights willingly shrug off the hatred that continues.
DuMaurier
Lots of assumptions about people whose names we don’t even know and have never spoken one word to.
Kangol
Tell that to people who make blanket, categorical statements about Black people, Latinxs, women, trans people, liberals, etc., because they do it A LOT in this site’s comment sections.
Donston
Kangol, the problem is you don’t fight hate and ignorance with more hate and ignorance while throwing pandering on top of that. These random comments is one thing. Publishing articles on a popular site that’s supposed to be about “community” is another.
Brian
One accusation was that the muscled men are vapid and dumb. Now they’re admitting they didn’t know their new friend Aaron was a nationally famous Congressman Aaron. Assumption confirmed.
ShiningSex
They look boring. So many in the gay community are so boring looking. On a more serious note, there is a lot of racism in the LGBT community and it’s so ridiculous that we as a community are being prejudice towards others when we get that from the public at large on most days. How idiotic is that?!?!?!?!?!?!
M David Johnson
20 years ago, putting your hands down another guy’s pants in a public place like this would have landed Shock on the sex offender’s list for the rest of his life, but thanks to the hard work of liberal activists and lawyers, that’s changed or is changing. Shock is a complete hypocrite and a worthless human being. I know one of those guys in the pic and all I can say is shame on you. Shame on you for giving this worthless leech a stage. Shame on you for not stepping out now. Shame on you for taking for granted the hard-fought rights so many people suffered for. Disappointed, TT.
maxdadmark
You’re kidding, right? Queerly is one of the prime sites for promoting vapid young white boys, flexing and preening, living a faux lifestyle that they will find will end sooner rather than later. A certain genetic makeup, disposable income, and hundreds of hours dedicated to a narcissistic pursuit of perpetual youth seems to be the ideal.
miserylovedme24
I’m so sick of this anti-white trash. You people claim to be all about equality and against racism, yet you continuously choose to pick on people based on their skin color and gender! WTF with wrong with you? You can criticize Aaron Schock for his voting record and hypocrisy all you want, but to run down so-called “white gays” is absurd and hateful. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Brian
White privilege is a real phenomenon. Nearly all white men have privilege. Some white men acknowledge that and behave accordingly. Other white men take advantage. Everyone should call them out for it.
It’s not racist to identify white supremacy, it’s not sexist to attack misogyny, it’s not bigotry to condemn bigots. Those aren’t real things.
BornTo
@ brian no it doesn’t it is a term some use who haven’t been able to achieve certain things in life due to their lack of intelligence or drive or economic background. Now black privilege on the other hand is a real phenomenon.
Mainere
@Brian To limit someone from their skin color and completely brand these people as an antagonizing privileged jerks is very much a racist.

PinkoOfTheGange
Sorry vapid, self hating, over trained, probably juicing a cycle or two a year, plus have an off label script for HGH, homosexuals are not limited to any race.
“White gay” is just a racist term no matter what the spin.
rocmond
“White Gay” as a derogatory name. That’s not racist at all…….
sfhally
Things a little slow? Who cares who the guys are in the picture? Are you actually sure they know him? And why do WE have to do anything anyway? I’ve got way too much to do myself without running other people’s friends and interests through a “Should they be allowed?” filter
jjose712
There’s no problem to solve.
There are always gay people (white or not) who couldn’t care less about gay rights unless it affects them directly (and sometimes not even with that).
We have plenty examples of gay couples who didn’t support gay marriage (and went public about it) and then they used the right that they fought against.
I don’t think using race as derogatory (i doubt if the guys were non white the title was similar) will help the community at all, because there are uncle toms of all races, and the same with shallow people
Donston
This is what I’m not understanding. Do people expect sociology and psychology to have completely changed in a decade? Homosexual/sexually homo-leaning/homo-romantic/romantically homo-leaning/gay/queer people being “problematic” is nothing new. There have always been and likely will always be “queers” who are indifferent towards “gay rights” or even against them, who don’t truly respect and support same-sex love/commitment, who exude internalized homophobia, who exude toxic masculinity, who are effemiphobic, who crack under the pressures of hetero-normalcy and pressures to fit into the “straight world”, who are unabashedly hypocritical, who are general sellouts and lack integrity, and so on. That is not something that’s attached to race. And I’ve interacted with enough people over the years to know this. Furthermore, until Aaron claims he’s “gay” I don’t see how he’s the problem of men who have overall and unabashed same-sex romantic and sexual ambitions/preferences.
Itsonlythetruth
Was he a self hating homo during his short lived political career?
dwes09
Apparently. Until he took a lot of the old images down, his old Instagram account looked stereotypically gay in many ways.
alterego1980
As a liberal gay man, I despise what Aaron Shock did while he was in office (even if his decor was on-point, yet illegal), that said, he is no longer in office. He is 100% a private citizen. Everyone knows he is/was a closet case (at least publicly). But that’s no longer our problem, only his.
The other issue here is “toxic white masculinity” which unfortunately is real. And it doesn’t always require perfect abs and a trust fund to get there, though it helps. But This issue deserves a lot more attention than a garbled one-off from this site to get to the heart of the matter. This site is as much the problem as anything. It contributes as much to idolization of the fit/muscular white male as cosmo does the bikini supermodel for women.
Donston
That’s the persistent issue with a lot of these “queer sites”. They want to be “deep” and they want to continuously admonish people. But it’s ineffective and often times condescending or offensive because most of these sites display hypocritical patterns. Furthermore, they’re all are so politically correct and are fairly scared of truly confronting uncomfortable and nuanced issues. Journalism in our “community” is pretty much dead. You can only see real, in-depth stuff on forums nowadays.
DCguy
Troll sign number 75, the troll tries to hard to establish it’s credibility “As a liberal gay man”.
Then the troll will do what this one did, try to move the conversation off the rabid, self hating bigoted closet case that voted on national legislation to harm LGBT people, stripping civil rights, and enabling LGBT people to not even be allowed to work.
Then it tries to pretend that this site is the problem rather than a toxic bigot trying to pass legislation harming all of us.
Donston
This “troll” did say that “toxic white masculinity” is a real issue and that Aaron is problematic. They also claimed that this site is problematic, hypocritical and incendiary, which it is. I don’t see that as “trolling”.
dwes09
Until Schock addresses his past behavior, he remains problematic even as a private citizen, even if he declared.himself gay, bi or whatever. Other than that I have to say I agree with your comment. This site can be just as problematic in its own maddening way.
BornTo
@ alterego seriously? I see more non whites being glorified on this site than whites, every Saturday they do their Instagram puff pieces and 90% of the guys they choose are non white.
Geeker
They are all so generic and interchangeable and so plastic that you could probably melt them down to make Starbucks cups.
Libertas Belle
Not that I would want to hang out with bigots, but honestly I don’t know which one of those Ken dolls are Aaron Schick. He looks like every other insta-hottie posted here every week.
PinkoOfTheGange
2nd from the right I believe.
spacecadet
Lol. Second from the LEFT. He’s the short one, 5’8”.
Michaelhs
While I’m glad you are calling out the racist and homophobic Aaron Schock, how do we educate his racists followers? Or is this a pile of shit that just can’t be educated?
IWantAFullBeard
Why do we have to guess his intentions by being around other white men? Don’t we know as a fact that he is a bigot by his past actions?
Problem solved.
Donston
The problem is this site is assuming all these men know who he is and what he’s done and how he’s used his political power. It’s very unlikely a bunch of random, partying, six pack flaunting, likely buzzed/drunk/horny guys had a clue. Assume they’re politically ignorant narcissists, which is likely where most of them fit in. And ask them to come forward. Beyond that, my argument is that these issues people keep claiming are “gay white” issues really are not. Narcissism/self-obsession, persistent self-victimization, clique-y sociology structures, internalized phobia, toxic masculinity all run through the whole spectrum, and we continuously see many high-profile examples of all these things from men who identify as whatever and live whatever type of lifestyle. Hypocrisy and indifference towards “gay issues” in particular is not a “white gay” thing. We can definitely have some needed discussions about race, orientation, sociology, internalized homophobia, “faking it” for the sake of power or to fit into a certain social structure. But this site’s (and most site’s) constant assumptions, broad-stroking and pandering to social media keeps that from happening. I’m not talking about Aaron and most white men like him. We should all know what’s up there. I’m talking about responsible journalism as well as approaching issues with any real insight and nuance. This site knows nothing about any of that.
dwes09
There are way too many here, both regressive and otherwise, who seem unable to separate their assumptions and prejudices from reality. We know what Schock stands for and how he has impacted LGBT people. We know nothing at all about the other men in those photographs. Nothing. Not their politics, not how they relate to people of color, not the extent to which toxic masculinity may or may not taint their interactions. Not even if they all recognized Schock.
We do know one of them has apologized, and stated their group did not recognize Schock, but people are still projecting imagined behavior and personalities into these individuals, including the author of the article (not known for objective writing}.
The issue of whether LGBT people and their allies should attend Coachella is valid, but totally separate from this incident.
BornTo
Doesn’t matter if they know who is or not, trying to shame people and ruin their reputations and/or careers is what a coward would do who cannot handle life.
Donston
Bringing up why despite the people behind Coachella it’s still supported by “queers”, “queer sites” and supposed “allies”- that may be a different topic but it’s a topic worth discussing. It’s honestly a more interesting and complicated one than talking about another hypocritical politician. What is happening with Coachella highlights how ultimately money and the opportunity for exposure often prevail over people’s supposed convictions. It also highlights how people are willing to overlook misdeeds, hate, prejudice so long as those things aren’t rubbed in their face.
jayjay333
It is somewhat odd (and telling) that none of these dudes knew who Schock was considering he has been in the news constantly over the past few years b/c of all his legal troubles and the case made big headlines last month b/c he had all charges dropped.
How could they not have known who he was? Not just b/c of his Federal case but all of the other news about him being closeted and anti-gay etc. over the years. I guess none of these guys ever watch or read the news….
redzebra1
@jayjay333 That’s believable. The U.S is a very depoliticised, atomised society.
DCguy
If you hang out with people in the KKK but you aren’t a member, chances are you’re a racist too.

@redzebra1
You don’t even live in the US. You live in Australia
orfunnyhaha
What do you expect from a blog that reads like TigerBeat. If you don’t have the same feelz as me we can’t be friends. Please. Grow a set.
BigJohnSF
C”mon. They have no idea who he is. He has been out of the news for years, and these guys don’t stay up on the news anyway. He’s hot, so he’s your new best friend at an event like this.
Brian
Yep. I know who he is, and I still wouldn’t recognize him if he walked up to me and slapped me in the face. I think people are expecting way too much from these Instagays.
PinkoOfTheGange
Isn’t one his personal trainer and another the trainers BF?
jayjay333
The Feds just dropped 24 charges against him last month! Huge story on every network and every paper w/ Schock’s smug face accompanying each story.
Even if you don’t want to shame these guys for hanging w/ Schock, they should be shamed for being so ignorant about the world around them
Morrisson
I think the source of Grahams hatred for white gays comes from the fact he is on the ugly end of the attractiveness spectrum. He was probably repeatedly rejected by white males and now as an axe to grind.
Email_is_also_fake
Since your so eager to defend him.
Read his Wikipedia page.
In February 2015, The Washington Post reported that Schock’s congressional offices had been lavishly redecorated in a style inspired by the aristocratic homes in the television show Downton Abbey.[134][135][136] In response to that story, the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed a complaint alleging Schock could have received an improper gift. CREW’s executive director, Anne Weismann, stated, “Again and again, Rep. Schock’s seeming obsession with his image impedes his ability to conduct himself in [an] ethical manner.”[137] Schock dismissed the criticism with the statement “Haters gonna hate”, which was in turn criticized for its apparent flippancy.[111][138] Schock later stated he intended to pay the decorator.[139] Another investigation had discovered he had spent campaign money on workout DVDs.[137]
Further media scrutiny of congressional expenditure reports showed that Schock had spent over $100,000 in government funds on office decorating and renovations between January 2009 and late 2014, mostly during his first term.[140] Other media[clarification needed] reported Schock had charged thousands of dollars for private flights, legal expenses, new cars, tickets to the Super Bowl and Country Music Awards,[141] as well as cufflinks, massage, “gold equipment” and cigars[142] to his government-funded office account. The Associated Press accessed the location metadata on Schock’s Instagram photos and correlated it with private flight records to identify flights that did not correspond to his campaign finance disclosures.[143] In response, Schock’s office stated it had begun an internal review of the reimbursements.[141]
that’s just the first two paragraphs, also he served the minimum 6 years to receive retirement pay from Congress.
“A sitting Member of Congress earns a salary of $174,000/year. That ends when he or she is no longer in office. But, depending on when the Member was elected, that person does receive a pension, access to a 401(k)-like retirement account at age 62 if they’ve served five years or more. (They are eligible at earlier ages with more years of service.)”
so congrats on defending a bigot who’s retirement salary YOU are paying.
Morrisson
I made no attempt to defend him, never mentioned him. I took issue with Grahams casual racism and provided a possible source for his prejudice. P.S Wikipedia is not a reliable source especially not in academic circles.
Toofie
I don’t get the “white gays” attack. First who knows if they know it’s Schock, especially if they met there? Or if they even know who he was or how he voted? It could be they just know him as “Aaron”. I don’t mind him being raked over the coals for his horrendous anti gay voting history while being gay himself. But to assume everyone knows who he is and should’ve shamed him on the spot is a bit much.
PinkoOfTheGange
One is his personal trainer and another is the trainers BF I believe. If so, they most likely have a clue, but other than that…not sure what the real issue is and why “white gay” is an acceptable term in 2019.
bftlguy
I was trying to make the same point Toofie but the justice warriors have reached a verdict. If I saw him dressed like that at Coachella I’m not going to say “Why that’s Aaron Shock!” Put Devin Nunes or Jim Jordan in booty shorts and I’ll call those bitches out! Lol
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
“White Gay”. Are you freaking kidding me?? Ponder the outrage if there was a “definition” of Black Gay!!
As to that smcubag pig Aaron Schmuck, had I seen him I would have called him out right there and made very publicly to ensure all around him knew exactly what a vile abhorrent hyprocritic he is.
And please trolls don’t even attempt to defend him because he is entitled to “his own opinions” He sided with those who are determined to strip Gays of basic citizen rights. Such as protections in housing and employment. States are now using “religious freedom” to MAKE IT LEGAL TO DENY ANYONE TO REFUSE TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO GAYS. This includes Doctors, phamacies, basically anyone. Federal Judges have been appointed to LIFETIME TENURE who have stated very publicly they do not consider Gay persons to deserve equality.
This ain’t nutjobs spewing hatred on some obscure website any longer. Our community is under a full on attack in all areas including those who wish to reinstate criminality for Gay sex. Trolls F-off
Donston
This is indignation I support and relate to.
redzebra1
Word! The gay supporters of Trump need to wake up or just stay off our websites & forums please! They’ve no more credibility than Jews that voted Nazi in 1932!
truthseeker
@redzebra1
Clearly you aren’t offended by the demonizing of white people. You once wrote “white people are the worst. Childish, stupid, easily deceived, bitter, revanchist, selfish, and entitled, and worst of all, they’re racist as f**k”
redzebra1
@truthseeker
A number are, yes. Shocker is another perfect example
jayjay333
It’s kind of odd that these other guys say they didn’t know who Schock was when he has been in the news constantly over the past few years for stories related to all of his legal troubles and just recently had his charges dropped which was a big story.
Not to mention his publicity whore seeking face has been on many magazine covers over the years including Men’s Fitness and other publications and numerous news pieces about him being closed and his anti-gay views etc
I bet if it was one of the Kardashians or a Real Housewife they would instantly know who it was but not anyone outside the realm of pop culture.
Toofie
But he’s NOT on a level of popularity of a Real Housewife or Kardashian. People seem to think he was more popular than he was. Or that everyone watches the news fully because his story was probably a blip on a newscast.
pavelvega
We should bully all gays that don’t fit in
DCguy
Translation: The troll account is enraged that LGBT people are pointing out bigotry and standing up to it.
bftlguy
I’m in Shock reading these ridiculous and childish critiques of 4 gay men completely unknown to those self-anointed justice warriors ripping them apart for being 1) white and male (and therefore oblivious to any inequality or injustice in the world) 2) muscular and attractive (thereby completely intolerant of anyone less attractive, chubby or belonging to another race) 3) accepting of Aaron Shock’s values (hey, he’s white and muscled too) even after they said they were unaware of who he was. You people need to get a life! Two of these guys are very muscular which tells you they spend a lot of time in the gym. That’s all you know about them. From my perspective all four of them look like sweet guys with a sizable chunk of dorky going on. Who are the demons you people see? And you are all convinced they are as boring as posts. Good grief! Disclaimer: I’m white! I’m also pasty, a little flabby, hairy and I sweat like a whore in church and I’ve been in hundreds of pictures with guys who looked like that while vacationing in Ptown or attending the March on Washington or at Gay Pride or in Fort Lauderdale or Montreal or NYC, etc. and not once did I ever hear “get the fat, sweaty guy out of the picture”! I also didn’t ask everyone in every picture if they were lefty so if we scrutinize these pictures you might find I posed with an asshole or two. I’d be more embarrassed to pose with just about everyone of you judgmental mental midgets criticizing guys you don’t know.
DCguy
A lot of words to defend a self hating bigot who spent years trying to harm LGBT people on a national scale and his friends.
redzebra1
The RNC would be proud of you!
squeeze002
Sorry, if you are running around having gay sex, regardless of your “sexuality” and supporting anti-gay types of laws you are basically a traitor. I could care less if you are cute and have abs if you vote to discriminate against gays, lesbians, transgender people in any way, you are no better than a vile traitor to the human race. Those holier than thou types that spend their entire life having gay sex and lying to their wife and children scream and yell when they are outed. Then believe they should be treated as holy gay icons because they are now living an out life. Sorry, but that does not work. So take you “offended” whining little butt and go away, you are not going to get any respect from me. You have to earn it by doing good in life for others not just for yourself.
redzebra1
WORD! You talk bitch! YAAAAS Cut him to pieces!
DCguy
::::Applause:::::
Mainere
I don’t even have to open the article to know that Graham wrote this. How in the world is this guy still not fired from here?
bftlguy
DC guy, that was a lot of words. I guess there were more than you could manage in your tiny closed mind. Go back and re-read them and cite what you perceive as a defense of that abhorrent creature Aaron Shock! I was defending four guys who have been raked over the coals for being in a photograph. If one of those guys was a friend of yours and said “Hey DC, get in this picture!” would you have instantly known that the mystery guy was some homophobic former GOP Congress member. If you’re from DC it’s quite possible you might have and alerted your friends. I seriously doubt he filled his companions in on his accomplishments prior to the pic. But we’re supposed to hate them because they are displaying some kind of white privelege. Tar and feather Miss Shock and you’ll get no beef from me. Vilify total strangers for being white and muscular? That’s beyond lame.
DCguy
No, what you tried to do is deflect the topic, and defend a bunch of guys who obviously know who they are traveling with. Schock was reported on by every LGBT blog and Magazine, the case was also national news, AND his votes against LGBT civil rights are public record.
It’s also adorable how you pretend to be upset at other people being “Raked over the coals” and yet your first response isn’t to explain your side, it is instead to lash out and name call like a 3rd grader who just spilled apple juice on himself.
Miles
Whoever filmed Aaron making out and jerking the guy off is a creep for posting it on the internet. Posting a picture of him at an event is one thing but posting him having public sex without his consent is unforgiveable. No gay or bi man deserves that.
redzebra1
Anything to deflect from his voting record…….He had no problems with violating other gay people’s right to privacy when in office you hypocrite shill!
Toofie
How about not fooling around in a public space where you can get filmed?
DCguy
So Schock can push legislation to attack every single LGBT person in America and enable them to be fired from jobs and discriminated against…but how DARE anybody provide evidence of his lying and hypocrisy.
Do you also call witnesses in court “Creepy” for providing evidence on crimes?
batesmotel
The best way to solve a problem like what some might perceive to be toxic white gays partying with Aaron Schock would be:
– Mind your own business.
– Worry about your self.
– Stop harassing and condemning other people you don’t like.
– Find positive healthy activities to partake in.
– Re-evaluate your priorities and avoid obsessing over others.
Follow those steps and you’ll be on your way to improving your life.
Herman75
Is it up to me to solve it?
Well then,
I read fewer articles written by toxic gay writers, and I stay out of WEHO.
bftlguy
DCguy, talk about adorable! Why look at you! You don’t like the structure of my letter because I don’t “explain my side” and “name call” before I “pretend to be upset” about how Shock’s 4 companions were raked over the coals. I might point that you were pretty quick to rip into me wrongly accusing me of defending Shock. I asked you what made you think that but instead of responding you pivot to outrage with me for defending the guys “who obviously know who they are traveling with”. I guess you were provided with a more detailed story than the one I read because I had no clue they were traveling together! I didn’t “deflect” anything or make any attempt to defend the indefensible Shock. I wasn’t pretending to be upset; I was/am upset to find out there is so much animosity and judgmental nonsense within our community. I reiterate my point that neither you nor anyone else criticizing these guys knows anything about them besides their perceived race, their degree of muscularity, that they chose to attend Coachella and they were in a photograph with a piece of crap former Republican congressman. So rant away DCguy and continue to be part of the problem. You’re right about one thing. I am adorable!
NCSilverBear
Forgive me if this question has already been asked, but, I looked at the video and frankly your vision has to be like that of an owl. I could just barely make out the silhouette of two guys making out. How can they be identified, definitively? Just wondering.
Bryguyf69
I don’t know about the other guys, but I do know for a fact that Rob had no idea that that was Aaron Schock. In fact, he’s pretty apolitical (aka apathetic) so even if Aaron had given his last name I doubt if it would have registered. Yes, I wish he is more politically aware, but all this bashing is unwarranted. He’s actually a really intelligent guy who is very socially conscious, albeit not politically. Does a lot of volunteer work with the underprivileged and environment.
Bruce Majors
Wow. Just like with straight Democrats (Maxine, Schumer, Nadler, etc etc) the non-Democrat gays are better looking than their opponents.
Tombear
I’d love to bang Aaron but I would be afraid my dick would fall off!
