If there’s one super hero franchise we’ll never tire of, it’s those lovable mutants at Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.
In the next installment called X Men: Apocalypse scheduled for a summer ’16 release, Bryan Singer is back to direct. And by the looks of this leaked trailer from Comic-Con, Singer went headfirst into the darker themes of the series.
And if the name wasn’t enough to clue you in, it’s about to go all Old Testament on us.
Watch below, and try not to get bothered by the shoddy camera capture:

Bob, you said it! What a load of shit. What the hell happened to Apocalypse? He sounds awful, like a typical politician. And his appearance? Why is he skulking about and the size of a pill bug? Apocalypse is a freaking god! If nothing else, he should be putting the pitiful display of mutants in the other movies to shame in a more grandiose fashion. This is an ancient mutant that named himself after the destruction of all life.

@Gothrykke: The Avengers movie wasn’t “bad” but it sure as hell wasn’t “great” either. I know when a movie is bad when a day or two later I can’t even remember what the goal of the hero’s actually was. I aint to crazy about the Transformers franchise anymore after Mark W.’s shameful performance in the last one. And if I ever see Johnny Depp I am going to ask for my $15 back for that piece of shit The Lone Ranger he starred in, or should I say smirked his way thru a few years back. Even the critics noticed that smirk on his face as he walked out of the tunnel that indicated he hated the damn movie as much as the audience.

I grew up reading comics…X-Men, Teen Titans, New Mutants, Avengers, Batman & The Outsiders, etc.
I loved comics, but none of these movies can make up for our own imaginations. After you’ve seen one they are all the same. I can’t distinguish between the AVENGER movies, SPIDERMAN or CAPTAIN AMERICA. They all blur together. They need to spend more time on the scripts, but they are just about churning them out every 2 to 3 years to make money. It would be better if they spent more time on the writing of a stronger story.

@lauraspencer: I was an Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Luke Cage, Power Fist fanatic. Remember the Secret Wars series back in the 1980’s? Would you agree girl here was the first gay character?

Meh, in comparison to the other trailer for comic book films next year, X-Men looks very weak. I have to say that I’m not impressed. I agree with much of the internet that Apocalypse looks like Ivan Ooze’s cousin and is way to short to feel as intimidating as his comic book counterpart. Brian Singer has been playing catch up since his boy toy scandal, but I feel like his head isn’t really in the game when you look at everything else that’s coming out next year.

Apocalypse in the comics has very distinct African features… In this garbage movie he looks European and is being played by a South American. Gonna have to pass on this one. Singer is too busy robbing cradles to read even one X-men storyline and get a feel for the history. He just ruins all of it because his ego has him convinced that he’s an amazing director. When everything is laid out for you and you can still ruin it that is by far the opposite of talent. He couldn’t even get Blink right… and now he’s ruining the most iconic X-men villain beyond Magneto.

This franchise lost the plot a while ago. I was so disappointed by the last one. Jennifer Lawrence was a terrible ‘Mystique’.
