American Horror Story got weird this season — you aren’t the only one who thinks so. But by this time next year we’ll be so wrapped up in Ryan Murphy‘s new, definitely-nothing-like-AHS, hour long horror-comedy Scream Queen that we’ll surely have forgotten all about Freak Show. Except for Dandy — we’ll never forget him.
Now our favorite gay panderer (and in this case we really do mean that term positively) Nick Jonas has been added to the cast, set to appear opposite the physically beautiful (but then he has to go and open his mouth) Joe Manganiello of True Blood fame.
No word yet on whether Jonas is playing the title character.
Also confirmed in the cast are Lea Michele (Glee), Keke Palmer (Akeelah and the Bee), Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine), Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), and Jamie Lee Curtis (True Lies). Ariana Grande is set to guest star.
Plot details haven’t been released, but the combination of the words “Ryan Murphy” and “horror-comedy” should give a fairly clear idea of what’s to come.
We’ll certainly be turned in, if only to catch the inevitable shirtless Jonas scenes.
Great! We will have ANOTHER show for Murphy to ruin after he gets bored with it. Next!
What I’ve come to expect from Murphy is a an inability to tell a story well. THE NORMAL HEART was an anomaly, because playwright Larry Kramer was present. Murphy doesn’t seem to have a destination in mind, and gets sidetracked along the way. He knows how to get attention, but seems to have very little of his own.
Well, at least we get Nick Jonas but the price is the insufferable Lea Michele. Please don’t let her sing any Streisand songs.
The cast is once again stellar(Nick really showed his chops in Kingdom), but Murphy has a habit of destroying shows after a few seasons. He’s like Joss Whedon on steroids(at least Buffy and Angel made it a while before becoming parodies of themselves). American Horror Story gets bad after a few episodes so I don’t have a lot of faith in Scream Queen.
He seems obsessed with randomly killing off characters too which is annoying. Death on a show used to be a big deal and something that rarely happened. Now it happens every 5 seconds so I see no point investing in characters.
@Captain Obvious: I agree. Murphy has Attention Deficit Disorder and can’t stay with a project too long.
Joe Manganiello doesn’t have to talk although I have no problem with it. He can just stand (naked I hope) and steam with Nick. Jamie Lee and Emma will do for the necessary females. Forget the rest.
The un-creative Murphy will probably have Jonas pull out a gun and just kill everyone off at the end.
I can see the weekly Queerty headlines come fall 2015. Nick Jonas got his titties out this week….Nick Jonas got his titties out this week….Nick Jonas got his titties out this week. The circle of Hell keeps turnin’.
