Despite a new record from Mariah Carey (and a greatest hits disc from Madonna), Barbra Streisand pulled ahead of the pack to score the No. 1 record this week, selling 180,415 copies of Love Is the Answer. It’s her eighth No. 1 record — and makes Babs the only artist ever to have a No. 1 record for five consecutive decades. Mariah, meanwhile, came in at No. 3; the band Paramore beat her for the No. 2 slot. And Madonna? She squeaked on by at No. 7, with 72,159 copies.

I swear to you that I am not a Babs queen. I could take her or leaves her, didn’t matter. But I love the new CD. It’s just nice music to play in the background. Great voice. Beautifully arranged.

The alternate CD w/ just the rhythm section is much more interesting than the disc w/ the orchestra. Babs should record in this ‘unplugged’ mode more often, it suits her better.

Diva is as Diva does!

Well done Barbra. Working with Diana Krull won out. Excellent album.

I got tired of Mariah Carey’s lame antics and her tendency to market herself in bikinis and other tiny bits and pieces. Gross, gross, gross.

I bought Madonna’s 2 CD set, 34 classics and 2 new songs. It’s worth the money.

Streisand has a beautiful voice, but is an absolute pig of a person, which makes it impossible for me to spend money on anything she does. Sorry my fellow gays.

Just ordered the Love is the Answer cd from Amazon, along with a replacement of my old cassette tape of Guilty with Barry Manilow.
One of her (and his) best albums.

I am not a babs fan but I had no doubt that she would be number 1, as for Madonna, I love her and I certainly bought Celebration, but everyone should already have most of those tracks except for revolver. (WHICH IS AMAZING BTW) It debuted at #7 which is exactly where GHV2 debuted, so it’s neither a win nor a loss…
