Ouch! Mormon presidential candidate Mitt Romney lost a crucial endorsement. Southern Baptist leader Don Wilton rescinded his support:
While I did give my consent to the local campaign to use my affirmation of the governor’s stance on family values in my capacity as an individual citizen, I made the mistake of not realizing the extent to which it would be used on a national basis. It was my personal error to agree to support Romney’s campaign.
As has anyone else who uses their name, likeness or influence to get the flip-flopping Republican in the White House.
Rt. Rev. Dr. RES
Mitt Romney’s father George Romney was a candidate in another time and place. In 1968, the GOP looked for a moderate conservative and social liberalism was acceptable.
The Romney’s were Utah Mormon loyalists who moved to Mexico for a brief period to continue polygamy when the Church changed in order to obtain US statehood and a return to legal status. Later, they returned to UT and became “normalised” again.
Flip-flopping is a Romney family trait, and the MA voters knew when he ran for the Senate, and forgot when he won the governorship in time to give US gays the inability to achieve marriage unless they lived in MA or had states without DOMA.
IMHO, I was hoping that the theocrat Dominionists would regurgitate the cult attack and NEVER NEVER support a Mormon for president.

Rt. Rev. Dr. RES Do you have your own blog? If so could you link. I find all of your comments extremely intelligent, insightful, and enteraining.

Thank you, Vinman – I am close to committing the sin of pride – a problem even for a retired bishop. LOL.
We have a toddler in the house, who, when he is not in pre-k, is demanding all our attention. We are totally smitten and give it to him.
I have never entertained starting a blog. No reason actually. I just thought that no one would find my somewhat pedantic style open to anything but monosyllabic ridicule. Oh, and an Fbomb from you-know-whom ROFL.
Maybe I should reflect, and have a “family discussion” about it. Thanks again.
