John McCain on gay adoption: ““I think that we’ve proven that both parents are important in the success of a family so, no, I don’t believe in gay adoption.” Hmmm, because we thought there was proof that kids with gay parents turn out just the same as hetero offspring… [NY Times via Towleroad]

What an amazingly idiotic thing to say: “I think that we’ve proven that both parents are important in the success of a family”. I understand that Mr. McCain thinks I’m less than equal, but does he believe it takes more than two gay men or two lesbians to equal two parents? If a queer couple adopts a child, each member of the couple is a parent. If each is a parent, then they ARE BOTH PARENTS.
Is he senile? Can he not count to two? Does he not know the meaning of the word “both”?
Please, someone, give this man a seat in a rocking chair at Springfield Retirement Castle!

I expect more from a man who has an adopted child himself. He should be aware of the countless kids out there looking for a home. I bet if we polled those kids we would find that they didn’t give a rat’s ass what gender their parents were, as long as they could have some.
Kids need someone to hug, to give them love, to take an interest in their lives, and they definitely need someone to teach them that we are all different and unique.

so what research is McCain citing for these statements?
or (my money is on this one) is he just talking out of his ass?

Regardless what the “proof” says, it’s best for kids to have a Mommy and a Daddy. Glad I did…
