Steve King Says Obama’s Call To Jason Collins Marks End Of Civilization

Rep. Steve King (R.-Off The Charts) thinks he can mark the exact date that civilization began to fall. It was when President Obama called Jason Collins to congratulate him on coming out instead of calling football player Tim Tebow to congratulate him on being a Christian. (Tebow, who has flirted with the anti-gay religious right, wouldn’t deserve a call based on his lousy season with the New York Jets, who just cut him from their roster.)

In a rant on the House floor, King decided to don armor as a culture warrior and foresee the end of the world as he thinks he knows it by looking at the world through sports.

“[W]e’ve got Tim Tebow who will kneel and pray to God on the football field,” King ranted. “Meanwhile we have a professional athlete that decides he’s going to announce his sexuality and he gets a personal call from the United States to highlight the sexuality of a professional ballplayer. These are ways that the culture gets undermined, where it gets divided. The people over on this side take their followership from that kind of leadership. One notch at a time, American civilization, American culture, western civilization, western Judeo-Christiandom are eroded
