A Florida high school teacher has been placed on administrative leave after students allegedly caught him watching hardcore gay porn on his cellphone during class.
Vadi Velez-Gonzalez is, er, was a ninth grade English teacher at Mulberry High School in Tampa Bay. According to a student, Gonzalez was sitting at his desk in the back of the room when she approached to ask a question. That’s when she noticed what he had on his phone.
Shocked by what she saw, she returned a few minutes later pretending to throw something away in the trash. Unbeknownst to Gonzalez, she was actually filming him. Within minutes, she snapchatted the video to her friends, and by the end of the day the entire school had seen it.

“You can do that, just not at school when you have kids in your class because that’s just nastiness,” freshmen Destiny Potter, who saw the video, told WFTS-TV.
School officials got wind of the video and quickly contacted police. A search warrant found that Gonzalez had visited the porn site more than 380 times in the past two weeks. Many of his visits happened during school hours.
Gonzalez has been charged with four counts of showing obscene material to minors. Bond is set at $8,000.

Never mind that this little girl had a phone in school, played super spy on her teacher, spread a snapchat to other students, and essentially bullied her own teacher. Because this big bad man was “caught” watching porn on his phone by some girl who wasn’t doing her work he must be reprimanded. Brand this girl a hero. She’s the child, she’s still in school, but hey film your teachers to get them fired.
No wonder teachers can’t stand kids. They don’t get paid as much as an idiot running a basketball up and down a court but they’re expected to shape future generations.

Obviously, dude was incredibly unprofessional and stupid for watching porn during class time, so firing him for that wouldn’t be unreasonable, but making this a criminal case is such a waste of time and taxpayer money. It was that horrible teenaged girl who showed the adult material to everyone, not him. That charge is a reach.

The simple fact is that it is inappropriate for any teacher to be watching porn of any type in the class room during working hours. It doesn’t matter how the student saw it, watching it in the classroom is wrong for exactly the reason a student might see it. People attacking the student are way out of line here.

Yes, he shouldn’t have been doing that in a classroom to begin with, but really: how hard is it to be aware of your surroundings and hide a phone when someone’s walking up to you? I’ve done it many, many times; I can only assume he was so engrossed (no pun intended) that he was completely unaware of his surroundings, which, as a teacher, I also find disturbing (thinking back to the surreptitious shenanigans we pulled back in school when the teacher’s back was turned, even for a minute) Oh, and I think the criminal charge is bogus.

Simple boundaries. He can watch all the porn he wants at home, in his car, etc.
But not at school with minors around. Most schools have basic codes about this. He was saying he didn’t give a damn and was asking to be dismissed.

@Juanjo: If she had reported it to a school official I’d agree, but she decided to go back, record it and then put it on SNAPCHAT. Obviously she didn’t give a crap about seeing porn and instead found it entertaining. Now it’s gone around on social media. Should he have been looking at porn? Of course not. Should he be publicly humiliated over it? Hell no. She deserves every bit of criticism she gets, as does he.

If that is true, then yeah, the teacher shouldn’t have been going to dating sites during school hours, but I wonder if they would have accused him of looking at “Porn” if he had been looking at OK Cupid or Match.com
