Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will make history tomorrow when she becomes the first Supreme Court justice in history to officiate a same-sex wedding ceremony.
Earlier this month, Ginsburg gave a rare interview in which she said the Court got it right by taking an incremental approach to marriage equality in its June decisions. Now she takes that stance one step further. According to Washington Post, on Saturday she will officiate a gala wedding between Michael M. Kaiser, president of the Kennedy Center, to economist John Roberts.
“I can’t imagine someone I’d rather be married by” than Ginsburg, Kaiser said.

I guess Chief Justice John Roberts was unavailable to officiate for economist John Roberts.

What a special lady. Don’t let Scalia do the rice, he will likely use a scattergun. Clarence Thomas will dominate the Cokes, leaving a curly little souvenirs for the ladies. Alito will stuff his face with hot cross buns, while Roberts discounts the entire ceremony, inviting his niece to witness his special brand of history being made.

@1EqualityUSA: I appreciate the humor in your post, and maybe the sad news of Darren Mazella is impairing my usual cynicism, but it is exactly one of the four dissenting justices you mention, we should hope, before long, to see officiate at a same-sex ceremony, making a display that The Court puts the law of the land above polarizing politics. Even I can’t stretch to see it -ever- from Scalia or Thomas, but if Alito or Roberts could summon the requisite bravery, it would be a much welcome, reconciling event.
