Oh, brother. Here we go again.
After being lambasted for holding a private dinner party for Sen. Ted Cruz‘s 2016 President run earlier this year, which resulted in their businesses being boycotted, employees filing lawsuits against them, public ridicule, and even being kicked out of Fire Island restaurants, Ian Reisner and Mati Weiderpass have done it again.

It was just discovered that the ex-lovers-turned-business-partners also hosted a private fundraiser at their Central Park South penthouse for Tea Partier Sen. Ron Johnson from Wisconsin, raising more than $10,500, back in April.
Johnson, who describes himself as “a pretty traditional guy,” holds a zero ranking out of a possible 100 with the HRC for his stances on gay rights. He’s gone on record to say he believes marriage is between “one man and one woman,” and in 2013 he voted against the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which protects people from workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
But that didn’t stop Reisner and Weiderpass from posing for selfies with the gay-hating politician, or giving him $2,700, the maximum allowed under federal election law.
Other attendees who whipped out their checkbooks included gay former Republican National Chairman Ken Mehlman and amfAR co-founder Jonathan S. Canno.
Cue the backlash in 3…2…1…

What does matter is this kind of thing needs to stop these gay individuals need to stop sleeping with the enemy as well as aligning themselves with the enemy throwing their own community under the bus constantly.

Lots of rich people in this country use their money for lots of disgusting, offensive and self-serving purposes, especially in the political sphere. Why do we expect these guys to be different just because they’re gay?

Get that money, Ian. You’ve got my full support. “Pride” has never fed anyone or put gas in the tank. Love ya!

They’re supporting a guy who does not believe that gay people are human beings with rights. And yet they don’t even see that. Somehow, they’re able to compartmentalize their views of the guy. Or perhaps they have a great degree of internalized homophobia.

Because in America, if you’re in a same-sex relationship, or if you’re attracted to the same gender, then you’re expected to eschew all individuality, rid yourself of independent thought, join the herd, and you absolutely, positively MUST . . . VOTE . . . DEMOCRAT!! (otherwise you’ll be judged a self-loather and find yourself on the receiving end of tactless statements as evidenced above)
Lesson learned.

Hey BJ, why is it that you never put down exactly WHAT the political differences are? By being “In a same-sex relationship” You mean not legally married don’t you? Because this politician is opposed to that right.
So in other words, you are attacking lesbians and gays for not wanting to support a politician who wants to take away their rights and make them second class citizens.
So in other words, you are telling women, that they are intolerant for not supporting politicians who would want to take away their right to vote or own property.
Cam
@SeeingAll:
If the boycott has been “Useless” then why did Reisner write a groveling letter to the Fire Island Business community saying that he has nothing to do with Weiderpuss’s comments and begging them to support him?
People don’t respond when something is having zero effect.
As for this guy, look, they are funding people whose main goal is the destruction of any rights for LGBT’s
The fact that the Log Cabin contingent is so bent on supporting them says a huge amount about them. They fund anti-gay politicians, and gay republicans attack anybody who dares point this out. ie. Log Cabin supports anti-gay politicians.
Xzamilio
@BJ McFrisky: Of course you’re not expected to… we’re a homogenized (tee hee) group of people that must all think the same way, but it stands to reason that obviously if you’re aligning yourself with someone that sees you as a wallet and not a human being deserving of the same rights as they have, then that should be cause for concern. Obviously, gay rights isn’t the be-all-end-all for conservative values, so I at least get it on that front, but I have problems with any group that feels that their fight for rights means taking away the rights of others.
Desert Boy
Ian Reisner would’ve tap danced for the Nazis. He’s worthless shit.
Cam
@Xzamilio:
And which of his rights have been taken away? He has the right to donate money to people who feel the rest of us should be arrested for being who we are, and I have the right to not spend my money at any business he owns.
Please explain what rights Reisner has had taken away?
Kevin Elsasser
I’m not sure who’s more of a hypocrite — the gay business owners who host fundraisers for anti-gay politicians or the gay politician who accepts money from gay business owners. Just saying.
Will Moor
@Jandrooey: He isn’t “getting” any money, he’s GIVING it. To homophobes. So if the Republicans win and you get food in your belly and gas in your tank but are stripped of several of your rights will you be perfectly happy because you got that gas in your tank even though you can’t marry the person you love or feel secure in your job because you might get fired for being gay? Actually being able to keep your job is kinda key to being able to put gas in your tank and food on the table, don’t you think?
@Cam: I can’t speak for Xzamilio but I got the impression that the group he was saying he had a problem with was anti-gay Republicans.
SeeingAll
@Cam: The boycott hadn’t even started yet when he wrote that letter, which really wasn’t groveling. He was trying to be nice and apologizing. When his apology wasn’t accepted he dropped it. After that, the businesses in the Pines have done as well as ever all summer. And I’m not taking sides : Reisner is a wealthy man who inherited all his money and is clueless as to real peoples’ lives; the Fire Island Pines home owners are greedy snobby elitist jerks; and the boycotters are vicious horrors.
SeeingAll
The main boycotters being Gay City News’ creeps Andy Humm and Duncan Osborne, who must have bribed Queerty to post this old story again. And let’s see if THIS post gets deleted too.
Xzamilio
@Cam: Why don’t you read my damn post again instead of being so damn reactionary??? I’m talking about gay guys who align themselves with the kinds of groups that think their fight for rights is taking the rights of others away. Do you always have to be some asswipe who thinks he can SJW all over the website? I’m on your side… calm the fuck down.
Xzamilio
@Will Moor: Thank you. YOU can read, it appears lol!!
paul dorian lord fredine
@Kevin Elsasser: ??? why is a gay politician taking money from gay business owners ‘hypocritical’?
Glücklich
Where is the payoff to Reisner and Weiderpass in supporting these anti-gay politicians? What do they hope to gain for themselves or their business(es)? It’s obvious what the payoff will be when a PAC full of energy or timber executives supports politicians who want to loosen environmental regulations but in the case of these two, what sort of favor do they hope to curry?
BJ McFrisky
@Xzamilio: Trust me, if any Republican has a problem with my being gay, then I’ll have nothing to do with them. But the thing is, I’ve encountered very few ever who’ve voiced an objection to the issue. To the contrary, most have been gracious and accepting, with a very small faction of ultra-conservative Christian right-wingers who’re hung up on the marriage thing. But Republicans in general don’t have an anti-gay agenda—that’s just what the Left wants you to believe in their ongoing quest to divide and conquer. Hence, this article.
Cam
@Xzamilio: No, you’re trying to deflect onto another topic.
Cam
@SeeingAll: Please don’t lie, the letter went out after calls and petitions for a boycott went out.
If you have to rewrite history to defend him, then you obviously have an agenda.

@BJ McFrisky: Why are you speaking in generalized terms. This specific politician that goes by the name of Senator Ron Johnson has gone on record about all his anti gay feelings.
“He’s gone on record to say he believes marriage is between “one man and one woman,” and in 2013 he voted against the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which protects people from workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.”
That’s not just going on record that’s an ACTUAL VOTE. He doesn’t like gay people. I’d say self loather is a very accurate description of a gay person who supports that and would hold a fundraiser for that.
SeeingAll
@Glücklich: The Lavender Mafia/Jewish/NYC/Israel thing is what the anti-Semites of the boycott are accusing them of.

@Cam: The boycott had no effect. His apology letter went out immediately after the call for a Boycott. Wouldn’t even have been TIME for an effect, if there’d ever been an effect. But, Cam, why do you think Queerty is posting this OLD story now ?
Xzamilio
@BJ McFrisky: Please… if that’s an accusation you want to hurl at the ultra-left, the ultra-right get the same book thrown at them. Even if I entertained your notion of it being a fringe group, that “fringe group” wields a great deal of power in Congress, and at every turn where there is opposition to LGBT rights, the conservative base is at the forefront leading the charge. The fact that you’re treated with decency goes to human decency, but how is that translating over to public policy? I’ll give you one thing, though: it seems some of Bush’s appointed conservative judges have no problem following the law and granting rights to us as LGBT individuals.
@Cam: Dude, I don’t know what the fuck your problem is, and frankly I don’t care because you’re the one seeing what you want to see.. AS USUAL. I’ve been fine ignoring your ass because you have some obsession with being a keyboard warrior, and I just don’t have it in me to feed your delusion… so by all means, carry on in your social media quest to right your wrongs, one Queerty post at a time.
Xzamilio
@BJ McFrisky: People like Cam are their own worst enemy, and why I have become more and more reluctant to call myself a liberal… it’s like we have this need to attack everyone — even the ones in our own ranks — because everything must fit a certain mold, so YES, on that front, I agree with you on the uber liberals who think they need control EVERYTHING a person says or does. But, you’re full of it if you think anti-LGBT is not still a mainstream Republican talking point. Anti-abortion, anti-trans rights, pro-guns, anti-anything not Christian. Or does Fox News represent the “fringe”?

You really have to have a lot of self hate and self loathing going on to turn against your own community.
Louis
@BJ McFrisky: I wouldn’t call it an agenda per say but it is more prevalent within the Republican Party.
Louis
@Cam: When you are actively participating in infringing on another human beings inalienable rights then you are indeed responsible and accountable for taking those rights away.
For example gay marriage, hospital visitations, adoption and so on all of those are our inalienable rights as Americans as well as human beings.
It’s unconstitutional and Unamerican for men like this man to think he can try to infringe upon our rights and strip us of our rights and then smile in some photo as if we are that naive and gullible enough to believe he supports our rights as Americans.

At least you can bask in the warm glow of the straights around you getting richer, I suppose.
Giancarlo85
@aliengod: And what does that have to do with anything? And what do you know about paying bills? I’m pretty sure your parents pay the electricity bill.
These right wing gays… always trying to come up with new bullshit. It’s funny these right wing gays demand people make their own money, yet support people who were born rich and never worked a day in their life.

THEN, SeeingAll wrote: The boycott had no effect. His apology letter went out immediately after the call for a Boycott. Wouldn’t even have been TIME for an effect, if there’d ever been an effect.
_________________________
So SeeingAll said that the boycott had no effect, AND that the letter went out immediately after, so there wasn’t even TIME for an effect.
This is an example of how the Log Cabin Republicans will lie anytime they have to to defend anti-gay republicans.
The first article Queerty posted on this Reisner situation was on May 11th, and calls for a boycott went out immediately. The letter to the Fire Island association apologizing went out on May 20th, AFTER Reisner had tried to apologize twice (But ended up attacking the communmity)
So first SeeingAll says the boycott had no effect, when challenged on that by being told people don’t grovel without reason, he then claimed that there wouldn’t have been any time because the letter got sent out immediately. Well based upon actual reporting of the incident it was around a week and a half before the letter went out, after the boycott started, AND Reisner had tried to apologize twice. So again, just like BJ, these Log Cabin guys will always lie or do anything they can to always defend anti-gay republicans.

Private people are going to do what they want with their private money and rich people are going to support politicians that take care of rich people.
The bigger issue is that we have to stop seeing individuals as leaders or representatives of our community just because they are rich, business owners or celebrities. And that includes the over adulation of rich guys who support pro-gay candidates and therefore think they have the right to run our movement.

Cam
@James Hart:
No, actually your first comment you tried to lie and say that this guy’s views were the same as Obama’s were, and I pointed out that that was incorrect. Now since you were busted out on that you have shifted to another topic.
Let’s ask you something, why are you so desperate to have gays spend money at a place where they know their money will be funneled into the pockets of politicians working against them?
It seems desperately important to you to defend homophobic people, was that the order given at the last Log Cabin meeting?
Giancarlo85
@James Hart: So you are going to sit here and defend Republicans yet try to attack Obama? You really are clueless and you rely on red herrings to try to support your weak argument. Obama meeting with the Pope doesn’t mean Obama endorses his views. Obama is the most proequality President ever to be in the White House. You need to either accept that reality or live in denial.

August 3, 2015: “Only the Father of Lies could think up something as diabolical as marriage between two people of the same gender.”
