This week, Star magazine digs into what caused the collapse of the marriage of star couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. The tabloid points a finger at actor Duane Martin, Smith’s longtime friend and husband of actress Tisha Campbell:

As his marriage crumbles, Will, 43, is finding comfort in Duane. “Will spends significantly more time with Duane than he does with Jada and the kids,” an insider says. “And as time goes by, Jada is growing more upset by it.”

Funny, we thought the Smiths made it known they had an open relationship.

There has been gossip about Will and Duane before, but it heated up again when the two thespians went on an exotic vacation together in February:

“Will and Duane definitely looked very close,” says a source, who spotted them at Flair restaurant in Trinidad on February 24. And although they were with company, “It was clear Will and Duane both arrived and left together,” the source added.

Jada, 40, “can’t stand Will’s relationship with Duane,” and insider says. “She feels like Will flaunts it in her face . . . taking him on exotic vacations while she’s sitting home alone.”

Admittedly that’s hardly a smoking gun, but Smith has been dodging gay rumors for years. In this instance both he and Martin are using the classic “I won’t dignify that with a response” response:

Will and Duane’s closer-than-close relationship has raised eyebrows in the past, with some even speculating that the two are lovers. But both refuse to dignify that assertion by commenting. Says Duane, 46, “I’m not going to defend myself against a gay rumor.” Still, Will and Duane’s friendship is only putting more strain on Will’s broken relationship with Jada, according to sources.

You know who we really feel sorry for? Tisha Campbell! First she had to put up with crazy-ass Martin Lawrence. Then she had to appear in the dreadful sitcoms My Wife and Kids and Rita Rocks. Now her husband is on the DL? Poor girl.
