This week, Star magazine digs into what caused the collapse of the marriage of star couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. The tabloid points a finger at actor Duane Martin, Smith’s longtime friend and husband of actress Tisha Campbell:
As his marriage crumbles, Will, 43, is finding comfort in Duane. “Will spends significantly more time with Duane than he does with Jada and the kids,” an insider says. “And as time goes by, Jada is growing more upset by it.”
Funny, we thought the Smiths made it known they had an open relationship.
There has been gossip about Will and Duane before, but it heated up again when the two thespians went on an exotic vacation together in February:
“Will and Duane definitely looked very close,” says a source, who spotted them at Flair restaurant in Trinidad on February 24. And although they were with company, “It was clear Will and Duane both arrived and left together,” the source added.
Jada, 40, “can’t stand Will’s relationship with Duane,” and insider says. “She feels like Will flaunts it in her face . . . taking him on exotic vacations while she’s sitting home alone.”
Admittedly that’s hardly a smoking gun, but Smith has been dodging gay rumors for years. In this instance both he and Martin are using the classic “I won’t dignify that with a response” response:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Will and Duane’s closer-than-close relationship has raised eyebrows in the past, with some even speculating that the two are lovers. But both refuse to dignify that assertion by commenting. Says Duane, 46, “I’m not going to defend myself against a gay rumor.” Still, Will and Duane’s friendship is only putting more strain on Will’s broken relationship with Jada, according to sources.
You know who we really feel sorry for? Tisha Campbell! First she had to put up with crazy-ass Martin Lawrence. Then she had to appear in the dreadful sitcoms My Wife and Kids and Rita Rocks. Now her husband is on the DL? Poor girl.

At least neither of them is saying homosexuality is a sin and wrong etc..

I don’t see how their “marriage” was destroyed considering that she was a lesbian and had her own affairs with women while he had his with men. Theirs was a PR marriage if there ever was one.

There is nothing less credible than star magazine…it’s obviously a bromance being used to hint at something more to avoid legal issues. Will Smith took heat for not wanting to kiss another guy when he did “Six Degrees of Seperation”
prince of snides aka divkid
i want to believe it. i really do. but i can barely think of an actor or celeb who hasn’t got a gay rumour. you only know you’ve made it when you’ve got a “secret gay shame of” angle….and when it’s even trickled down to jersey shore level, you know that currency is debased.
it’s an over saturated market. all of he fun along with the all credibility has been drained out.
there’s a whole department of scientology given over to manufacturing and feeding out these rumours just to keep the heat off tommy girl. i might have made that up.
Sean
Why is Trinidad a place of “exotic vacation”? It’s denigrating to designate it for what it is – a soverign nation in the Americas that is not a major tourist destination but has an economy based on energy resources. Calliing it an “exotic” place relegates it to a category of places you don’t take very seriously.
oker zaude
Very common with the black race, as we all know.
Huh ...
Kinda seems like Will Smith could do better …
mattsy
i knew will smith was gay way back in 1992 when he refused to kiss another man in the film Six Degrees of Seperation-hello? Ur an actor. And a faggot-deal w/it!!!
Mark
Not surprising we’ve known this for years about them. Like someone else said they had an open marriage so Jada could have sex with women. They are Scientologists and people in that cult are against LBGT people.
Danny
Trinidad is a shithole island of mostly barbarian fasciststhat should be leveled and returned to a humanless existence.
Mr.BoPeep
Can anyone pass me that straw. I can’t seem to grasp it.
Really Star Magazine? You really think Smith couldn’t do better? The photoshop guy/gal was off that day and you couldn’t fina anyone hot to put in with Smith?
CBRad
@Mark: I didn’t know they were Scientologists. Now I’d….suspect it’s true. That org. and closeted movie stars seem to have longtime arrangements.
James
Finally a black dude that likes other black dudes.LOL….I think there marriage is just a arrangement anyway Jade is rumored to be gay to.
James
@oker zaude: What is common?
Kim
Will and Jada are not Scientologists they may be Bi, though
Drew
Kim yes they are Scientologists they opened up the Scientologist elementary school. They’re either bisexual or gay and it’s clear they’ve been in an open relationship for awhile but Jada said this. Danny is correct about Trinidad it’s not a place you’d want to visit for a vacation. James there are plenty of black men out there who like other black men. I am not black but a friend of mine is black and he mainly only dates and has relationships with other black men.
CBRad
@James: I’ll disagree with your view of black preference, but it’s only from my own observations. I’d say, roughly, at least half of black men prefer other black men.
Oh, ok.
@James: Where exactly are you getting that from? Are you white?
I always see white guys saying this based on their experience from a few tokens in white gay clubs that really don’t want black men there in the first place.
If you bother going to even one black club it’s mostly black men with other black men. You can’t find me a single black gay club that doesn’t have black men with black men.
And it also happens to be where all the tops so many of you claim don’t exist go to be with other black men of all kinds(including fems, who most gay black men don’t insult or turn away like so many white gay men).
So yeah everyone wants to be an expert on what black gay men do and tell us about ourselves when in reality we do none of those things and stay to ourselves so we know we really can’t do anything but laugh when you make up this bs about us.
I think we’d know if there was some sudden surge of white gay men in black gay clubs maybe then we’d listen to what you have to say about us, but being that you only know or see a few tokens you have no experience to pull from.
There are black gay prides all over the country. I know it’s hard to hear that not everyone wants you. Finding one black man who is exclusively into white men out of 100 black men does not mean all black men want white men. I can find one white man out of 100 who is exclusively into black men. So what?
M
@Huh …:
Duane has a phat ass. That’s enough for Will…
prettygirls
@CBRad: I live in Atlanta and ain’t NOBOBY checking for no white dude. Sorry Love
Oh, ok.
@prettygirls: Thank you! I lived in Atlanta for two years, but it’s certainly not only Atlanta.
My boyfriend is white and the looks we get…interracial dating even when you’re gay is still not that common and most black men are not checking for white boys at all.
Most white men who exclusively date black men will tell you straight up they have a hard time finding black men who actually want to date them in the first place.
Huh ...
@Oh, ok.: “the tops so many of you claim don’t exist”
Dude. It was ONE guy. From Spain. Making what he himself admitted was a bad joke.
Let it fucking go.
Huh ...
@M: Even Carlton would make a hotter couple with Will.
Anna
Will may be gay or not what the problem?
We just want to know something, about peoples
life, why can’t we look @ ourselves?
are we perfect? gay or not for me will is your life
stay married or get divorce is you life!!!
james
@Oh, ok.: Chill out it was just a joke. But I will say that I haven’t been out long but all the brothers here in chicago only date white guys and get mad when with guys don’t want then.I’m black to btw.Are there black prides in chicago?
CBRad
@james: In NYC there are tons of events for just black gay guys. NYC gay stuff is very segregated. I’m not saying it’s racism, I think it’s just that we’re attracted to the (usually masculine) images we had when growing up, thus black guys are turned on by other blacks and the same for whites with whites. That’s a generalization, I know, but I think there’s a lot of that. (But I believe you about your different experiences and observations with guys in Chicago).
Huh ...
@CBRad: Maybe I’m just a whole, cuz I’ll fuck all kinds of races.
Huh ...
@Huh …: A “whole” being, of course, a combination of a “whore” and a “hole.”
And yes, I am both things.
CBRad
@Huh …: Well….there are plenty of YOU guys, too..!
CBRad
@Huh …: Actually, straights call guys like that as having “James Bond syndrome” – lol
Rockery
I would do Will
Tyson
A lot of white men are completely racist towards black men and assume that gay and bisexual black men will actually enjoy having racist things said to them about having a big black dick.
Oh, ok.
@Huh …: He’s far from the first who’s said it. I always hear white guys saying it in real life. So I don’t know how you figure it was just one guy.
People damn near say gay black men do everything they don’t like. Supposedly we’re all fems, all “down low” since it’s not called closeted if you’re black and in the closet, all in love and obsessed with white men who supposedly don’t want us but can’t stop talking about us, and all bottoms.
Calling these things jokes after saying them doesn’t make them jokes. He said it because he meant it.
BiBlkMale
I’m black and I refuse to date or even sleep with most non-black men and women anymore. Why? I got fed up with men and women who are not black constantly thinking that having sex with someone of another race besides their own was exotic. I got very angry when I learned that they only wanted me because of my penis and the r acist myth about black men being big. I do not have this issue at all with other black men and women or latina women. I happen to be a top but not all black men are bottoms like someone assumed.

a Real straight guy wouldn’t be as terrified about doing something gay. A terrified closet case would be the person most likely to behave that way. In trying to make Smith seem straight you did exactly the opposite.
Greg
Will has been on the DL for years and it’s obvious. I agree with Oh OK, people either stereotype bisexual and gay black men as being ultra femme or as being and acting or dressing like thugs or like they’re from a hip hop video and they don’t normally see black bisexual and gay men as being just regular men like most are.
FunMe
Scientologists in Hollywood = gay = organization helping you hide it.
Rj
Something I already knew, but it wasnt with duane, it was with an exec over at ABC.
Rj
What i forgot to mention is that Jada is a sex freak herself, dunno why she’s so upset.

MJ
thank you Queerty! I was wondering when someone was gonna mention Tisha Campbell! everyone is going on and on about about Will, Duane, and Jada but forget that Duane is married too so how does she feel about this?
talibah
The greatest trick the devil played was proving to the world that he does not exist. But what is done in the dark will come out in the light. Any man who can play a gay part on TV has been playing a gay part off TV. All those sexy celebs that you all have fallen in love with such as Will Smith,Denzel Washington, “The rock” Dwayne Johnson, Drake, the list goes on and on. You don’t beleive me! Ripleys believe it or not. Check out on youtube degraduation of hiphop.
CJ
So because the Marc Anthony and Jada scandal didn’t pan out like the tabloids wanted they try to claim Will is gay? Its sad how far the trash mags will go for a dollar. But I suppose if people believe the trash then there doing something right even if its wrong.

@BiBlkMale: Sorry for your bad experiences with white guys. As for myself being white and from the age of 11, I came up in an all black neighbourhood. Since this exposure, I never saw black guys much differently than me except for the obvious physical differences. I really didn’t care much about the penis size difference mindset as stated here. That I would rather know the person behind the physical. When I’m asked if I am a top or bottom, I say that I’m the position that works best for the relationship. As the relationship itself is more important to me than my personal desire to be equally both ways. I’ve tried to have three interracial relationships with other men. I’ve put my heart and soul into these only to discover that the others were only into blacks themselves. One recently dumped me after knowing me 35 years for a very young brown stud. I’m 51 and he is 49. He is a good liar and I was blinded by his words, by my love for him. Do I say that I don’t want any more to do with black men? The temptation may be there but I cannot let this defeat me as the person that I’ve always been. I refuse to condemn another that had no responsibility for what happened to me in my past. That would be unfair to that person. Despite the appearances of what is displayed on the outside like colour and culture, at root we are more alike than most would think. We both have feelings. We both have ambitions. We both laugh and we both cry. We both worry and we’re both confident. We both have the capacity to love and the capacity to hate. Appearances are superficial but at root we are not as different as one may think.
