One of our fave blogs, Kenneth in the 212, shared the full version of José Torrealba’s 1999 documentary Got 2B There: A History of the Circuit Parties, which has now been uploaded to Vimeo.
Chock full of archival footage from circuit parties in Atlanta, New York, and L.A. Torreablba’s film lays bare both the scene’s positives (entertainment value, release from stress and discrimination, a sense of community) and negatives (unsafe sex, drug abuse, lookism).
Were/are you a circuit queen? Share your remembrances in the comments. (If you can remember them, that is.)
