One of the world’s great mysteries has been cleared up — Taron Egerton did not come out of the closet last month.
The Rocketman actor sent the industrial speculation complex a-spinning in October with one little ambiguous Instagram post, but in a new interview, he’s cleared up the confusion.
Here’s the post that left everyone, including us, wondering:
“Cutie. My boy [heart],” read the caption on a photo of an unidentified person.

When someone asked for the guy’s name in the comments, Egerton responded, “nah, he’s mine and mine only.”

Egerton also reportedly liked a comment that asked: “does that mean he’s got a boyfriend now?”
Social media was flooded with posts celebrating the actor’s step out of the closet, but Egerton has now reversed course on the story.
“One of the lads was at my London flat and I Instagrammed a picture of him and said ‘Look at this cutie’, and a million outlets reported I was coming out as gay”, he said to Metro.

“I’m not gay but two of my mates came out when I was 15 and it was a joy to support them because, as a group, we are all secure in who we are.”
Egerton will star as Sir Elton John in the upcoming biopic about the singer, Rocketman, which follows John’s rise to stardom in the ’60s and ’70s.
Rocketman will arrive in theaters in may 2019.

Now I’ve always found him rather sexy, until he went shirtless in the Eddie the Eagle movie and all his hard work beefing up for the Kingsman movie had gone down the pub! But he’s very personable and charismatic and a good actor. He was on a chat show a couple of weeks ago with Ian McKellen and Taron told Ian how he’d seen rather a lot of him in King Lear a few years ago, « and there’s a lot of Ian to see » which made the entire audience roar with laughter and Sir Ian gave him the very expensive looking scarf he was wearing « for saying that »..
And it’s often more fun speculating about someone’s sexuality, but if they want to come out fine, a good role model to be supportive of. But if they don’t, that’s not for me to say, one way or the other. And for fans, in Memories Of Youth he fills out a pair of white trousers very nicely!
