The Battleship star will join Jim Parsons, Matt Bomer, Mark Ruffalo and Julia Roberts in Ryan Murphy‘s adaptation of The Normal Heart. The HBO film is based on Larry Kramer‘s play, which “tells the story of the onset of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City in the early 1980s.”
Kitsch will portray Bruce Niles, a closeted investment banker and, later, a prominent AIDS activist. Parsons, who starred in the 2011 Broadway revival, will reprise his role as Tommy Boatwright, a gay activist. Matt Bomer will star as Felix Turner, a reporter and lover of Ruffalo’s character.
In other Ryan Murphy casting news: It has been reported that Kathy Bates will bring the ‘misery’ to the third season of American Horror Story. She joins Jessica Lange and Evan Peters.
