They say the enemy of your enemy is your friend, but that’s really not going to hold up in the case of Republican presidential nominee Donald Jiminy Trump and the puffy beast he slay to achieve said nomination, Ted Cruz.
But we still love that Cruz threw some not-so-subtle shade on the man he’s called “utterly amoral,” “a pathological liar,” and “a narcissist at a level I don’t think this country has ever seen” during Cruz’s convention speech Wednesday night.
Suffice it to say, the crowd did not love Cruz’s verbal footwork.

Cruz actually made it through his entire speech without endorsing the Donald, a dynamic we can’t imagine occurs too often during a national convention primetime slot.
“I congratulate Donald Trump on winning the nomination last night,” Cruz said at the beginning of his remarks. “And like each of you, I want to see the principles that our party believes prevail in November.”
After that, he never mentioned Trump’s name again, instead urging the crowd to “vote your conscience.”

Eventually the audience caught wind of the snub, interrupting Cruz with chants of “We want Trump!” With a sneer reminiscent of Snidely Whiplash, Cruz just stayed on course and finished his speech. By the end, he was outright booed off stage.
So Ted Cruz is booed off stage — why don’t we feel any better? Oh, right — look who we’re left with.
Watch Cruz’s burn play out below, and don’t miss the camera cutting to Trump, who is clearly trying to keep things looking positive and unified, despite the elephant in the room:
And I thought nothing would top tonights Nazi salute by Sister Ingraham. Cruz proved me wrong. He did the same thing to Trump that Christy did to Romney in 2012; no endorsement what so ever along with no apologies for not endorsing the candidate.
I think Al Franken nailed it when he said Cruz was the lovechild of Joseph McCarthy and Dracula.
The GOP, sinking into irrelevance with the carved, wooden Turd Blossom set at the prow. A slow, agonizing death watch.
And next up for your viewing pleasure: a pack of hyena battle a couple of male lions over an elephant’s carcass. Apparently, the pride wants nothing to do with it.
I hope Cruz went home and cried himself to sleep last night.
The GOP has a history of turning on the losers. If Trump Loses Cruz just jumped into the #1 position to run for office in 2020. He’ll call it the “I told you so” tour.
Cruz humiliated himself by managing to get booed off the stage by the GOP party faithful. He might as well have just pulled out a gun and shot himself in the mouth.
@Kieran: If only.
By not endorsing Trump on prime time television during the convention that amounted to the slap across Trumps face that a lot of people were waiting to see. Its really amazing how many of you do not see what he (Cruz) just did. Its disturbing just how low the intellect level of many of you are.
Cruz showed real bravery and principle last night. He can’t support the phony the GOP have selected, the same fraud that donated twice to Hillary Clinton and praised her tenure as Secretary of State. I abhor Cruz’s politics but I give him credit for showing some cojones in front of this crowd of crazies.
@Kangol: How much are you willing to bet Cruz just got himself reelected in 2018, and 2018 is two years away? That was a shrewd move he made last night and boy, did he get even. Those boo’s don’t mean squat. He told the entire voting population in so many words “don’t vote that biblical mistake, Trump, into office”.
Have you also notice Trump has not condemned that obvious Nazi salute from ol’ Sister Ingraham during her talk-showesq rant last night?
@Bob LaBlah: Fascinating that you also caught Ingraham’s Nazi salute. Trump isn’t going to condemn it. Like Ingraham, he’s been signaling to the white supremacists where he stands. Sadly gays like Yiannopoulos and black people like Dave Clarke think they’ll get a special exemption. They ought to consider how well that worked out in 1933.
@Kangol: Ernst Rhome thought he was safe too, and look what happened to him. You wouldn’t believe how many talk show hosts such as that vile tramp from last nights GOP Circus of the Misguided there are that spew hate speech disguised as “talk show stuff” from the mike. Their audience starts around the middle of Pennsylvania and stretches all the way across to Oregon and Washington state, the South included. I saying that millions of ignorant people are being brainwashed with this filth they are spreading. One even called a caller a “lying little jew” on air and is still broadcasting. And thats on the FM stations.
I honeslyt believe that on the low power AM stations there are even more of them. This is really happening and no one is saying or trying to do a damn thing about it. A Nazi salute on national television program that is trying to elect a president and no one says anything about it or demand an apology? Aren’t there veterans still alive that fought against that and other symbols of oppression that might be offended at the silence? This is the time to pay attention folks.
Trump would be taken out. President Pence would take us back to dark places. The Supreme Court would look like a tribunal, Unions would be toothless, women will be suspects should they be unfortunate enough to spontaneously abort, marriage equality, healthcare, poof. Vote blue. Chris Cristy said King Hussein of Jordan would trust him, were they to sit across the table from one another. King Hussein of Jordan has been dead since 1999. Chris Cristy supposedly would know more about foreign affairs, as he’s had designs on the Oval for a while. If this is the caliber if thinkers with whom the GOP is saddled, they are in deep doo-doo. Weak, feeble, nothing to offer, ill-informed, vulnerable to their cabinet’s whims, as was Bush, the GOP is chasing their own tail. Epic.
@Bob LaBlah: I noticed while watching this on PBS that not a single commentator, including the Jewish ones, noted it. They looked the other way. The press is determined to do this, to let there be false equivalence and let lies be uttered and spread, because they are also part of the elite and no matter who wins, they will do just fine. That is, unless Trump precipitates a nuclear war, which isn’t out of the realm of possibility given how irrationally he speaks and acts.
