Battle Of The Phobes

Ted Cruz Is Using Robocalls To Accuse Trump Of Being Pro-Gay…Seriously

It’s hard to figure out who’s more antigay between the three leading GOP candidates for President, but Ted Cruz wants potential voters to think Donald Trump is all about the gays.

In South Carolina, a pro-Cruz CPAC blasted the following message in a robocall to potential primary voters after Trump commented about “forward motion” in regards to LGBT rights to a lesbian reporter:

“Stop! What does she mean by forward motion? What is he agreeing to? It’s not about tolerance anymore. It’s about mandatory celebration. It’s about forcing people to bake cakes and photograph gay weddings.

Forcing clergy to officiate, it’s about transgender bathrooms in your child’s school, it’s about tearing down our Judeo-Christian values, it’s about tearing down our America. Ted Cruz for President, before it’s too late.”

Boys, boys, you’re both homophobic!

We’re actually pretty impressed that the call managed to hit every single homophobic panic button in a single minute. Well done, shady pro-Cruz CPAC that wants this lunatic to lead the country, well done.

Trump handily won the South Carolina primary, so obviously the robocall didn’t have the intended effect. Cruz has been pretty steadfast with his homophobia in an attempt to pander to evangelical conservatives, even inviting antigay loon Phil Robertson to speak at a rally, but Trump is trickier to pin down.

He’s admitted to attending gay weddings even though he claims to be against gay marriage, but declared the issue “dead” in light of the Supreme Court ruling.  Hell, he’s even got a “gay liberal” supporting him! Then again, last week Trump admitted that evangelicals can trust him to overturn the gay marriage ruling.

Whatever. At this point, we’re not even sure Trump knows where he stands. It’s safe to say that if they’re arguing about who’s more homophobic, they’re unfit to be serious candidates for very many LGBT folks.

Except maybe him. Or him. Good luck with that one, boys.
