NEEDLESS DRAMA

Texas Production of The Laramie Project in Trouble Because ‘Theater Is No Place For Gays’

Is there no room for Corpus Christi and The Laramie Project in Texas? After voting unanimously to put on The Laramie Project, the Tyler Civic Theatre removed the play from the theater’s website after receiving angry letters against it. Then, after approving the production in a second vote, the board put the play back on the website but removed any mentions of the gay group putting on the play and homosexuality. The board has apparently interfered with the group’s casting decisions, will possibly reneg on their promise to split the proceeds, and called the group to tell them, “This theater isn’t for [gay] people like you.” Looks like churches are the only place you can put on a faggy play in Texas these days.
