Be warned, however, these folks aren’t for the faint of heart…
Don’t be fooled by Phyllis Schlafly’s sweet looking face, this woman’s a snake. In fact, this oldie baddie may be one of the most vicious of the anti-gay activists. The 83-year old Missouri native made a name for herself in the 1960s by taking on women’s rights, which would lead to a “androgynous society”. Of course, Schlafly wouldn’t have earned the title of “conservatism’s first lady” without a little homo-hating, which she does with zeal, particularly through her “patriotic” Eagle Forum.
Though still an ardent anti-feminist, Schlafly’s particularly vocal when it comes to “supremacist judges” and sexuality in schools.
[These judges] are becoming increasingly aggressive in handing down supremacist decisions that are biased against parents’ rights and religion, and in favor of feminist and gay-rights agendas.
‘Parents’ rights cases are seldom accepted by the Supreme Court. This year, rather than hear a single case about parents’ rights to control the upbringing of their own children, the Supreme Court heard the appeals of Osama bin Laden’s driver and of prisoners demanding the right to read pornographic magazines.
What’s most distressing about Schlafly is that she continues to rail against gay people despite the fact that her son’s gay. She’s not a mother, she’s a monster!
Attempting to collect all of James Dobson’s anti-gay rants would take an eternity. Rather, we’d like to highlight one of his most inane and oft-repeated assaults: gay marriage will destroy the world. Alright, he didn’t say it would destroy the world, but it’s pretty damn close. During a 2005 radio address, the Focus on the Family leader wonders where “activist judges” will lead the blessed “traditional” marriage:
How about group marriage? Or marriage between daddies and little girls? Or marriage between a man and his donkey? Anything allegedly linked to civil rights will be doable, and the legal underpinnings for marriage will have been destroyed.” Now, that’s more or less a prophecy. Not a divine prophecy, but a prediction.
Unfortunately, millions of Americans consider Dobson’s words divine. This man’s got a frightful amount of power.
We’re not sure, but Alan Keyes may be a demon spawn. This Republican lap dog regularly derides gays and their “hedonistic” ways. The Renew America founder’s so hateful, in fact, that he disowned his lesbian daughter and then criticized Vice-President Dick Cheney for not doing the same. Criticizing Cheney? This man must have balls of steel! Too bad his logic’s not as massive as his moxie, for Keyes seems to think that we gays are incapable of procreation. Consider his statements from a 2004 interview with homo-journo Michelangelo Signorile:
…Marriage, as an institution, involves procreation. It is in principle impossible for homosexuals to procreate. Therefore, they cannot marry.
Homosexuals are essentially incapable of procreation. They cannot mate. They are not made to do so. Therefore the idea of marriage for two such individuals is an absurdity.
Tell that to our sperm count, homie. In that same interview, Keyes told Signorile that gays don’t have “sexual relations”. Why? We’re still trying to figure it out:
[Gay sex] is the mutual pursuit of pleasure through the stimulation of the organs intended for procreation, but it has nothing to do with sexuality because they are of the same sex. And with respect to them, the sexual difference does not exist. They are therefore not having sexual relations.
Keyes’ irrationality’s so fucking frightful, we’re speechless.
Linda Harvey’s middle name should be “horrific”. This hate-mongering mama and friend of Alan Keyes has no qualms spouting ridiculously frightful anti-gay rhetoric, particularly when it comes to HIV/AIDS. The plague, of course, can be pinned on us gays. Says Harvey:
The major cause of HIV and AIDS in the U.S. has been and remains male homosexual behavior. The next largest transmission category is intravenous drug use, followed by high-risk heterosexual contact. This last group consists of people who have had sex with anyone who falls into the first two groups. If we eliminated homosexual male sex and intravenous drug use, HIV would be reduced by at least three fourths in this country. Both are unnecessary, chosen behaviors. Schools need to make sure this point is absolutely clear in the minds of every student in health education.
Harvey isn’t content on taking on the gays, but those who support the gays, too. Harvey says gay-friendly Christians have “distorted” God’s supposed word. And, what’s more, they’re not “compassionate,” but “heartless”.
Takes one to know one, lady.
Perhaps one of the most frightful of the anti-gay activists, Peter LaBarbera of Americans For “Truth” has made it his mission to take on the “homosexual agenda”. And, as part of his work, LaBarbera regularly trolls leather and S&M events. Queer, right? Of all of LaBarbera’s anti-gay statements, however, one stands above the rest: his July 4th praise of “ex-gay” gay editor Michael Glatze:
Today, when Americans celebrate their freedom and independence, a man living in Canada is cherishing a more profound liberty – from spiritual bondage to homosexual sin. Michael Glatze, a former rising star in the “gay” movement – and co-founder of “Young Gay America” magazine – publicly “came out” of homosexuality.
Pray for this young man as we thank God for His gracious work in one repentant sinner’s life – a testimony of what He can do in this nation if we as a people humble ourselves, reject worldly agendas, and return to following Him.
Unfortunately, scads of scoundrels follow LaBarbera. In fact, he’s one of the most powerful anti-gay activists out there. Can you imagine anything more horrific than a world populated by LaBarbera’s homophobic masses? We can’t.
It takes a certain kind of crazy to draw a connection between homosexuality and slavery. Luckily, Richard Land’s got insanity in spades. The Baptist leader foolishly believes that the gay marriage debate stands on the same federalist ground as the slavery debate.
The slavery analogy is apt when it comes to the marriage issue. America’s families — and the culture at large — cannot survive as a union of states with half embracing “same-sex marriage” and half accepting only traditional marriage. The U.S. government will not disintegrate, but eventually the nation will have one definition of marriage binding us all.
At least one person has said to me that while banning slavery expanded personal liberty, prohibiting “same-sex marriage” would contract or limit personal liberty. Yet while the ban on slavery expanded liberty for the slaves, it inhibited and constricted liberty for the slaveholders.
Forbidding same-sex couples from marrying may be a constriction of their liberty, but more importantly, it is an expansion of the people’s liberty to define what constitutes marriage.
So, not only is Land evil, he’s got democratic dyslexia. Gross!
We’ve got to give the pretty Elaine Donnelly credit for her patriotism, however misguided. The anti-gay activist, who heads the Center for Military Readiness, focuses her evil powers to spread Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell “love”. Allowing gays in the military will only lead to homo madness, because we gays are incapable of controlling our sexual urges. Kind of like how Donnelly can’t control her inhuman ideology:
The law recognizes that living conditions are often “spartan, primitive and characterized by forced intimacy with little or no privacy.” It also respects the normal human desire for sexual modesty. Servicemen and women should not have to expose themselves to persons who might be sexually attracted to them. It would be unfair to force the homosexual agenda on young people whose lives are difficult enough.
So, the rare possibility of a gay stare can be as “difficult” as suicide bombers and bullet wounds. Who knew we were so dangerous?!
Ahhhhh! If you see Alan Chambers walking down the road, turn and run as fast as you can. This self-proclaimed “ex-gay” has dedicated his life to singing the gospel of Exodus International, a millions-strong intent on spreading reparative gospel. Though Chambers and his soulless allies want nothing less than to eradicate the gays, he seems to think it’s the other way around.
There is a move not only to silence the voices of the redeemed but to eliminate the redemption. At the core of it all, this isn’t a battle about whether homosexuality is right or wrong, it is a battle between good and evil. One of the many evils this world has to offer is the sin of homosexuality. Satan, the enemy is using people to further his agenda to destroy the Kingdom of God and as many souls as he can.
Our job is simple: wage war against the Kingdom of Darkness and save souls.
As if Chambers would know anything about a “soul”. This man lost his way years ago and, sadly, continues to wander around a kingdom of self-denying darkness. It must be pretty frightening waking up every day and hating your reflection. We’d have more antipathy for Chambers if we didn’t pity him so much.
Talk about terror! Ohio-based preacher man Rod Parsley claims that he leads with faith, yet his anti-gay agenda attempts to strike fear in his flock’s black hearts. This rat of a man most recently used his syndicated bible show to take on hate crime legislation. Like so many of his mindless peers, Parsley seems to think that such laws will be used against Christ-loving, hate-mongering fools such as himself. He explains it all in the video above, but here’s an especially baffling excerpt:
This deceptive ploy of liberal, homosexual agenda begins to lose its allure once you pull the mask back and take a closer look. You see, the legislation that’s before our United States senators right now extends to speech and can punish people–hear me now–not for their actions, but for their culturally incorrect thoughts.
[T]he next person charged with a crime could be me, or your pastor, or your grandmother, or maybe YOU.
Ahhhh! At least Parsley understand that his opinions are culturally incorrect. Maybe he’s not as horrific as we imagined. Psych! This man’s a monster and should be avoided at all costs. If you’re feeling particularly brave, however, you can try throwing some holy water on him. Odds are he’ll melt…
It’s impossible to know what turned Tony Perkins into such a monster, but the Family Research Council honcho counts as one of the most frightfully powerful anti-gay activists around. And, more importantly, he’s extremely dangerous. You don’t believe us? Consider his wildly inflammatory statements on Congressman Mark Foley’s downfall:
I think that this — there’s an indication, there’s clear research that shows that homosexual men are more likely to abuse children than straight men. And when it comes to government, yes, I have a concern that any type of sexual deviancy is a problem. And I think — I’m not pointing this strictly at homosexuality. I think this is a problem of dropping all sexual restraints in our society, and this is what it leads to. I mean, our kids not even being safe in the halls of government. Is that the America that moms and dads want for their children? I don’t think it is.
Perkins chooses to ignore repeated studies which dismiss such erroneous assumptions about gay men. For example, a 1995 American Psychological Association paper concluded that gay men “are no more likely than heterosexual men to perpetrate child sexual abuse”.
Perkins and his ignorance are perfect examples of what makes these zombie-like, monstrous anti-gay activists so dangerous. They pick and choose “facts” and twist them to fit their homophobic agenda.
The twenty people we’ve chronicled are hardly the only anti-gay activists in the world, nor are they necessarily the most repugnant. They are all, however, totally frightful.
Rt. Rev. Dr. RES
Yes, Phyllis has a gay son who supports her ministry . Ditto for the gay son of Tim and Beverly La Haye.
The Canadian voices of spiritual violence were from the Roman Catholic hierarchy – now completely uberconservative reflecting the retirement and replacement of all liberals by the former and current pope. This majority voice was also joined by the fundamentalist and pentacostal voices in Western Canada.
We won the spiritual debate. How? Well, the Anglicans held the middle ground….but it was the United Church of Canada – who joined the MCC and many Quaker and Unitarian Universalist voices against these theocon luminaries who fought us in Canada…”so that they would not have to fight us in the streets of America” LOL
When Canada’s largest Protestant denomination was the loudest voice for LGBT marriage and civil rights, the secular activists – the pols and the jurists – could fight each other.
You do not fight the religious wrong with the legal right, but with the religious right…namely those who fight the theocons on their own turf.
@Rt. Rev. Dr. RES: 1
Last paragraph from No 1 above sounds very true to me.
I go back a few years when the orange juice saleslady propagated her contempt upon the Gay community.
It’s been some time since then and I’ve seen all kinds of progress towards LGBT acceptance which is a must precursor towards marriage equality.
So far so good.
Slow but sure is a good sign.
We must be doing a pretty good job of revealing to the world — hey everybody, look at us, cause we are a good and decent bunch of folks like yourselves.
But, all great works are subject to the “3 steps forward and 1 or 2 steps backward rule”.
As far as our own “religious right” stuff, here are my own personal favorites —
These are some of the gold standards of attitudes about how the whole world should think about and treat all gays and lesbians and transgender folks —
1. Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way…….Romans 14:13
2. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God……Romans 15:7
3. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love…….Ephesians 4:2
4. Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble…….1 Peter 3:8
5. Man’s ways are of the Lord,…………Proverbs 20:24
6. You may believe there’s nothing wrong with what you are doing or how you feel about yourself, so keep it between yourself and God. Blessed are those who don’t feel guilty for doing something or thinking of themselves in the way they know is best……….Romans 14:22
