The 2014 Masters Tournament Winner Is A Homophobe Named Bubba

Bubba Watson is a terrific pro golfer and 2014 Masters Tournament winner who just happens to be a big ol’ homophobe. With a name like Bubba Watson, we know you’re just as shocked as we are.

OutSports has a timeline of Watson’s homophobia, which started last year after Jason Collins rocked the sports world by coming out.

In a 2013 interview¬†with Christian Post he made it clear that he “respects” Collins but that he believes that being gay is a sin.

“I’m not saying he’s wrong, I’m saying I love him. If he called me right now and said, ‘Hey,’ or any person that was gay called me, I’d go to dinner with them any time. It’s just my belief system on the Bible says you can’t be gay. That’s a sin. So somebody living in sin I believe to be wrong.”

Hmmmm, perhaps instead of having Jason Collins over for dinner he can invite those Duck Dynasty guys instead?

Collins seems to be too busy making history and we’re sure Watson would have more in common with the Duck Dynasty cast anyways. They like to run their mouths a lot about gays and “sin” too.

It’d be nice to see an out gay golfer give Watson a smackdown in the next Master’s, but to date none have been bold enough to step out of the closet yet. Perhaps Bubba’s boneheaded remarks will inspire a pro golfer to come out and take him down.

We don’t watch golf, but we’d watch that.

His phobia probably comes from early sexual experiences as a child. Boys are naturally Bi and many regret their past as sinners, once they grow up and learn the Big Book.

Here’s what science has to say about homophobes:

      They are themselves closeted gays.

Gee, a southern bigot using the Bible as a phony excuse to support hate.

      This is SO unusual! ;)

Augusta National would not allow black members until 1990, just 7 years before Tiger Woods first win there. They did not allow women until 2012, when they invited 2 token celebrity members. It’s no surprise that homophobia is rampant there. They think allowing Jews is progressive.

They’re a bunch of meatheads. No wonder homophobia there is rampant. You don’t need a brain to think, only a tough hand to swing a golf club.

I will have to make a note to go on National TV and tell him the next time he sins. How much of the millions he won yesterday are going to feed the poor? How many divorced people does he know? Has he housed a homeless person recently?

Oh please!!!!!! His beliefs are his beliefs. It’s OKAY to think homosexuality is wrong. My grandparents did. My parents did, initially. Homophobic? Them? Not even Remotely. Get over it.

Not agreeing with Homosexuality is far different from Hating homosexuals.

@dcmetro123: Homosexuality is a phenomenon that exists in nature. Not “agreeing” with it is about as meaningful as not “agreeing” with left-handedness.

There are many out gay golfers! Muffin Spencer-Devlin was one of the first. There’s Hall-of-Fame member Patty Sheehan, who is raising children with her partner. So is Jane Geddes. And there are veterans Sandra Haynie and Rosie Jones…

Per LPGA player Christina Kim, there are about two dozen lesbian LPGA players. Hardly “nearly all of them,” but a presence.

Oh. You mean the MEN’S PGA Tour. Sorry.

@DonW: Yes, there are more than 200 species of animals where gay sex is extremely common. This is widely documented in hundreds of scientific papers. It was discovered that for some species, gay sex is actually more common (in terms of frequency of occurrence) than straight sex (!). Please read the book “Biological Exuberance”, by scientist Bruce Bagemihl.

I’m guessing that the SIN of dishonoring God by working on the sabbath isn’t much of an issue for good old boy Bubba. I mean this is a man who has made much, if not most, of his money by working on Sundays. But, he’s just like too many of his Christians brothers who pick and choose the stuff in the Bible that best suits the way they want to live their lives and ignore the rest.

Well, Bubba, the Bible says we’re all sinners and we’re not to judge others unless we be judged too.

Science has already proven the bible is a work of fiction. The bible says the universe is less than 7000 years old. It has already been proven that the universe is vastly (billions of times) larger than 7000 light years across. The stars in the nighttime sky demonstrate each night that the bible is a man-made fiction because you’d only see less than a hundredth of 1% of the stars if the universe was less than 7000 years old. Emotionally mature Adults realize this reality. Emotionally immature people do not. Time for the rest of the human race to grow up and stop forcing fiction onto others – especially a mythos where the supernatural creature ordered the murder of women and children and the rape of underage girls by forcibly taking them as wives. An evil book of fiction used to control others – just like every other fictitious religion.

Every time someone doesn’t like something or disagrees about it we cant go and whining. Let him have his bible and pour me a drink

Hey, fellas, Goober, I mean Bubba, is a f*ckin’ golfer, not a candidate for President. Why does anyone care what he thinks about gays? Why would anyone even ask, except to see what kind of dumb-ass reply he’d make? WE need to move on past this tiresome re-hash of morons’ sentiments.

Jesus seldom mentions the word sin and almost never refers to it.

About a dozen times or so.

If he seldom used the word, then shouldn’t we do the same?

Why should there ever be an emphasis on using the word sin to bring about harm and hatred upon others?

Why so much enthusiasm to use the word sin to —

      1. Condemn?
      2. Judge?
      3. Use scripture to sit in the seat of scornful?
      4. Engage in all manner of fault finding?
      5. Be constantly accusatory of others?

Aren’t there enough bible based faults in any life that should keep everyone busy with removing what’s in their own eyes before they see enough to remove what they don’t like in someone else’s eyes?
