BuzzFeed proclaims âshort is sexy!â in a brand new countdown video featuring some of Hollywoodâs sexiest and shortest male celebs.
While most of the entries on this list are not that surprising (yes, we knew Zac Efron is average height, and that Daniel Radcliffe is the shortest person in the Harry Potter franchise), but we shed a gay gasp or two at some of the names on this list. Did you know Mark Wahlberg is only 5â8âł? Kevin Hart is only 5â2âł? Hot!
Unfortunately, Justin Bieber is not on the list. Heâs 5â9âł, FYI.

I like short men. They fit well. Nothing against tall men (I’m 6’2″) but I find a man my height kinda’ awkward.

Very interesting list, and I agree that a lot of those are hotties. Who ever compiled this list ( no one from Queerty) since it was taken from YouTube, should have thought twice about adding
Peter Dinklage. Not becaus he’s not sexy ( he is) but dewarfism is a medical condition, and that’s not classified as being short. With so much political correctness these days, I don’t know if it would be a compliment, or insult in calling a person with dewarfism short?

Part of this is the difference between gay men and women.
With a gay couple there is no stereotype of one having to be taller. So gay guys will think a short guy is sexy because hey, if you’re 6ft 2 chances are most guys you’ve dated are shorter than you.
With women they mostly seem to want a taller guy. They might tell you they think some guy on the screen is hot, but if he wasn’t famous, and walked up to them at a bar and was 5ft 5in. and the woman was 5ft 7in she probably wouldn’t give him a second look.

@Tackle: It’s neither, really. Dwarfism runs in my family. I’m one of the tallest people in my family and I am only 5’5”. It is what it is. We are short. End of story, really.

I’m very surprised that the list omitted who is arguably the most famous actor often discussed for his height: Tom Cruise. No matter how your feel about the 5’7″ actor’s personal life, there’s no denying that he’s a sex symbol and major celebrity. Heck, now 51 y/o, he’s been a sex symbol for all 30 years of his career.

In the 80’s shorter men were often preferred in the porn industry because their smaller bodies made their genitals look relatively larger. Jeff Stryker was a notable example. Shorter actors could also play teens, where real teens might be illegal to use. Shorter men were also popular in straight porn for the same reasons — with the added advantage they didn’t even have to be attractive. That’s because men were mere props for the female. Their faces were almost never shown. Or most of their body, for that matter. Think porn legend Ron Jeremy, ugh… Things changed in the 90’s when it became known that a lot of straight women also watched porn, and they liked attractive taller men.

@barkomatic: Physicality is much more important in stage acting. It’s a main factor in “stage presence.” Without the camera, you can’t play around with angles, lighting, special effects, etc to enhance an actor’s attributes or to hide his/her deficiencies. When filming Tom Cruise, for example, the camera is often angled to make him look taller, especially next to females. The mise-en-scène is also adjusted, if necessary, to give him command of the environment.

This is a great story. Sadly, people who are shorter are often thought of in less attractive ways. The buzzfeed story is a good way of showing short can be and IS sexy! Love the Zac Efron photograph by the way:)

@Bryguyf69: re: Tom Cruise, here are two photos from the start of his career. The first is 19 y/o Cruise from his debut movie, Endless Love (1981). The notorious second photo is from a gay magazine, Parlee, date unknown. Cruise’s management has acknowledged the photo as real. I don’t know if it was from his days as a high school wrestler, or whether it was modeling gig. If Cruise was modeling, it’s unknown if he knew that it would appear in a gay magazine.

I’m 6’2″ and have always loved short guys also.
Peter Dinklage absolutely belongs on this list. He is a very handsome man. The reason he is short is irrelevant.

I mostly go for guys shorter than myself. I’m 6′ exactly.
What I find sexy and enviable about shorter guys is that they seem to almost effortlessly obtain the classically proprtioned muscular build I like compared to us lanky guys. Most positions in bed that I like, being a top, are also much more comfortable with shorter guys, and some are only possible with shorter guys. I’ll leave up to the reader’s imagination what I’m talking about.

I prefer guys who are taller than me, but that’s difficult when I’m 6’1″. Most guys I’ve dated have been quite a bit shorter than me (even one who was 5’3″ and he was one of the hottest) but, I still prefer taller men. Only happened once for me. I have one ex who was 6’3″ which in my opinion is just about the perfect height for a man I’m going to be with.

@barkomatic: Shortness can be disguised in film, so it’s not a big impediment to movie stardom, but it is all too obvious on stage. Unless you were to meet that film star in person, you would never know. There was a film who’s name I forget, but that’s not the point, where the male star was shorter than the female. In a major scene where they walked side-by-side on the beach, the crew dug an 8 inch deep trench several hundred yards long for the male actor to walk next to the female actor and not be shorter than her. They have many tricks and they use them all.

@Evji108: Using boxes to elevate an actor’s height and trenches to shorten an actress was common in pre-CGI Hollywood. Well, not that common since short men rarely became leading men. Your clue of a beach can only mean Boy on a Dolphin (1957), starring the 5’6″ Alan Ladd and 5’8″ Sophia Loren. Do I win a prize …? A kiss? đ

This attached study is interesting and very unexpected. For years, height was used as an indicator of a population’s health and longevity. This correlation is true, for example, with the Scandinavian countries and the Netherlands, where the tallest men live.

My Irish Maternal Great-grand-father was 6’3″ and lived to be 108, full head of white wavy hair… Had a shot of whiskey everyday (to keep the doctor away), and smoked cigars…was a cop, served in the first WW, born march 16th 1885, he died April 1993. Genes ARE everything, good or bad. Preprogrammed, healthy living can help you make the most of what you’re delt at birth. Mind you, his son (my grand-father) died at 68 of brain cancer, having NEVER smoked, never drank alcohol and was very sport active… so there you go…Hopefully I enherited his longevity gene… I hope to be a bitter old queen for at least 80 more years !!!
