Every year, thousands of homo hedonists amass at New York’s Roseland Ballroom for the annual Black Party, a sweaty gay orgy of sex, booze, music, sex and “strange” live acts.
And did we mention the sex?
The theme for this year’s bash on March 23 is “Rough Trade at Luna Park,” which Saint at Large promoters describe thusly: “Set on the outskirts of Rome in an abandoned amusement park, Luna Park comes to life for one night only, as a band of Moto-Gladiators convenes for their annual bacchanalia.”
Yeah, we don’t know what that means either. Just wear a leather harness and you’ll be golden.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

I performed at the Black Party several years as well as attending several more. If you have been to one you have been to them all.
redcarpet
Is this a new thing? I’d never heard of it until a few years ago. Maybe it’s just now getting attention in the media?
How bear friendly is it (as in hairy AND chubby)? I remember white parties being buff smooth guys only.

@redcarpet: It has been going on for over 30 years. It was one of the original circuit parties. It is very, very, bear friendly as it is an all leather/fetish wear party.

Back in the day there was the Black Party, The Steel Party, The Red Party, The Black & Blue Ball, The White Party is really all that has survived.

@Chad Hunt:
What were the Steel Party, Red Party and Black & Blue Ball about?
Chad Hunt
@jayden: They were what was once called Circuit Parties. Many in the LGBT would thus travel the circuit. The Steel Party was usually in Pittsburgh, The Red Party, was always in Columbus, The White Party in Palm Springs, The Winter Party in Miami, Hell Ball in New orleans, The Black Party in New York, The Purple Party in Dallas, The Black & Blue Party in Montreal, Hotlanta in Atlanta, etc. They are in no way as popular as they once were but many are still in occurrence. Basically a bunch of drug/alcohol/sex themed parties around the country mainly patronaged by the LGBT community but open to all.
