Colin Coward — a 65-year-old former vicar at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wiltshire, England — will marry his 25-year-old Nigerian boyfriend Bobby Ikekhuame Egbele, a fashion designer and model, in a civil partnership later this year. Of course we all know it’s just a sham ceremony so Bobby can get his citizenship papers. You know how those homosexuals are always exploiting marriage laws for immigration purposes. Following the ceremony, they’re planning a service at, yep, the St. John the Baptist church. I don’t really understand how they’re going to get away with it, but hey, I’m game if there’s wafers.

Seriously!? ooh-kay!

Gross. Interracial marriage is an abomination. And a threat to the family. It’s dangerous for children. It can never produce same-race children. It’s a bigger threat to American values than terrorism.

“You know how those homosexuals are always exploiting marriage laws for immigration purposes.”
Yes, tell that to them: http://www.immigrationequality.org/template.php?pageid=50
Who on this site’s editorial staff got burnt so badly by a foreigner that they have made it their personal agenda to crusade against bi-national relationships?
You’re welcome to question the motives of Mr. Bobby Ikekhuame Egbele (because viciousness sells, right?), but please watch those stereotypes and generalizations, Fox News.
Queerty, over these past few months your posts have become nothing more than hollow confirmation that your points of view are amusingly pathetic, bigoted, shallow, and both politically and intellectually pretentious. As far as I’m concerned, the writers have become so miserably wrapped up in their own cynicism that this site is evolving into an imbecilic collection of meaningless ramblings. I suggest you stop this unnecessary pseudo-snottiness or you risk becoming as irrelevant as the other gay media outlets you’re constantly criticizing. Kicking those dying dogs, eh? I guess in your world it doesn’t really matter if you’re all of the same breed and should instead be supporting and sympathizing with each other. Classy!
I prefer Queerty over other blogs such as Joe My God and Towleroad because it has a cleaner and more visually appealing design and format. However, I am starting to realize that I am committing one of the ultimate sins by choosing style over substance. My eyeballs and my brain deserve much much better.
That’s all.

He’s not Catholic, he’s Anglican. And he’s not former, he’s the current priest at that parish.
EdWoody
Priest, inter-racial, same-sex, inter-national. Throw in disabled and vegetarian and you’ve pretty much ticked every box.
DS
Is that what passes for a model in Nigeria???
Micky
Hmmn. I know lots of people who are not gay who marry to get people into this country – and lots of other countries.
Anyway – who wouldn’t have a toy boy, given the chance?!
Shawneeboy
@mconyc08- the bit about “we all know how homosexuals exploit marriage…” was SARCASM.
Not that I’m defending this bitch, because first of all, they said the older guy is a “former Catholic Priest”… and then some commenters say that he is a CURRENT Anglican(Church of England) MINISTER, not a former priest, and in the pic he’s wearing his collar, which I’m sure is “illegal” if you’re a FORMER anything- Priest, Minister, whatever. That’s pretty lame. But the bit about the immigration and homosexuals exploiting marriage was supposed to be sarcastic.
Shawneeboy
and oh yeah, he’s a model?
suzygoo
My, My, how stupid folks can be. The Anglican Church is the Catholic Church and is the official church of England (not sure of Great Britain) and the Queen is the head. In the USA it is called the Episcopal Church. The other Catholic Church is the Roman Catholic Church and the Pope is the head. As for younger, blacker why is everyone so focused on fella from Nigeria but not on the priest.
Congratulations to the both of you!

The only thing the young one models is the old guys balls in his face.

In 1641 Massachusetts was the first colony to recognize slavery. 363 years later in 2004 Massachusetts was the first state to recognize “SSM” through judges (backed up by liberal politicans). “SSM” denies the human rights of children to a father and a mother. Their genetic rights and human rights are sold on the market; another facet of slavery. They would have to wait 18 years until their emancipation
John McLaren
He’s a Protestant ANGLICAN priest (Episcopalian for Americans) not a Catholic or Roman Catholic priest. Get the report right. The Vatican has nothing to do with this.

Cute couple that doesn’t deserve any of the snarky, nasty, and downright bigoted remarks that have been posted.
Ironically this all comes from a “gay” site…

“Who on this site’s editorial staff got burnt so badly by a foreigner that they have made it their personal agenda to crusade against bi-national relationships?”
What are you talking about? Whatever its faults, Queerty has always (or at least when the topic is up at all) been supportive of them.
“…in the pic he’s wearing his collar, which I’m sure is “illegal” if you’re a FORMER anything- Priest, Minister, whatever.”
That would depend on the reason for being “former.” But if he’s a CURRENT priest, regardless of whether it’s Catholic or COE, why shouldn’t he wear it?

Age is in fact more than a number
We don’t want 5 yr olds loving 50 yr olds now do we?
Ted C.
@John McLaren: Actually, whether the Anglican church should be classed as Catholic or Protestant is a matter of some debate, even within the church.
Anglicans have priests and nuns, and a liturgical tradition that is closer to the Roman Catholic church than the German Protestant churches, so there’s a good reason to consider them Catholic.
But others think that anything which isn’t Roman Catholic is necessarily Protestant. (These people are clearly wrong, though. The existence of the term “Roman Catholic” implies that other kinds of Catholic must exist. Not to mention the Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, and Eastern Orthodox churches, which are also neither Catholic nor Protestant.)
You’ll often hear Anglicans describe their tradition as “Anglo-Catholic”, or “Catholic, but not Roman Catholic”.
Yeah, you probably know this, but I’m explaining this for Queerty’s benefit, since they’re obviously completely confused by this, and don’t know how to use Google.
Molly
@REVEMUPMAN: That’s really not what I meant by ‘age is just a number’. It’s sort of obvious that I was implying that two adults above the age of consent can fall in love, regardless of age difference.
Joe SixPack
A blowgun wedding?
L.
@Maggie Gallagher: “Interracial marriage is an abomination. (…) It can never produce same-race children.”
Yeah, because “same race” *gay* wedding produce “same race” children. Rrrrrrright.
L.
@Ted C.: The Anglican church has indeed turned more “Roman Catholic”-like since the 19th century, but I don’t think it could ever be called “Catholic”-anything, since the very words suggests universality, and only Rome claims that universality.
And, while Gawker can’t Google, the Mail can’t count: they say the vicar will marry someone “half his age” đ
