Col. David Russell Williams used to be the chief of Canada’s largest Air Force base. Then he got arrested for breaking into houses and photographing himself modeling teenage girls’ and adult women’s undergarments. Oh, and raping and killing two of them.
Williams just pleaded guilty to murdering Marie-France Comeau, a flight attendant (who worked at his base), and Jessica Elizabeth Lloyd. And the investigation into the women’s deaths has turned up lots of sick secrets, relays the Toronto Star. It took a clerk two-thirds of an hour just to read aloud the 88 charges against him.
By day, Russell Williams was the commander of Canada’s biggest air force base, CFB Trenton. By night, he broke into homes, taking pictures of himself modeling the bras and panties of little girls. He escalated quickly, from fetish break-ins, to sex assaults with no penetration to rape and murder. He logged his crimes, kept track of police reports of his crimes and left notes and messages for his victims. “Merci,” he thanked a 12-year-old in a typed message on her computer. “Merci beaucoup,” he captioned a souvenir photo he took of his penis strapped to a sex toy he stole from a 24-year-old Ottawa victim in June 2008.
We learned that Williams made a video of his brutal beating and asphyxiation of Comeau after breaking into her home Nov. 24, 2009. He also made sex tapes of Lloyd after kidnapping her the night of Jan. 28, taking her to his cottage in Tweed, raping and torturing her for at least a day before dumping her corpse in a field.
Some of the victims he targeted in his 82 home break-ins were as young as nine. And there were the 11-year-old twins. He broke into one home nine times. “Thousands” of pictures documented his conquests, as did a meticulous journal.
The court saw numerous pictures of Williams dressed in the panties and bras he stole, often lying on the beds of his victims, masturbating. There were photos of him wearing the stained pink underwear of a girl under what looked like his air force issued pants. Morrison suggested Williams might have worn the stained pink panties to work at the base he commanded. There were photos of him lying in beds surrounded by the stuffed toys and panties of little girls, or of him wearing negligees and camisoles. In all the photos, his expression was stern, as if on parade for inspection.
On New Year’s Day 2008, he broke into a home in the Ottawa neighbourhood where he lived and sprayed semen on a 15-year-old girl’s dresser. He then took a picture of himself with the girl’s make-up brush touching his penis. […] There was a pattern to the photos he would take during a break-in: He would first photograph the bedroom of his victim, then the underwear in her dresser. He would then arrange the lingerie neatly on a bed or on the floor, before modeling them and ejaculating.
Prosecutors described Williams as having a “peculiar sexuality.” That, or a sickness. Gasps and crying could be heard in the courtroom.
How about we take this to the next level?

Military training is dehumanizing and creates these problems. Some guys just flip.

Is this GLBT news?
Enron
@asa1973: That’s what I am saying too, when the idiots who love to persecute us stumble across this story on a pro-gay site, what do you think they are gonna say about us?
This guy is a sicko! Plain and simple.

Nope, and not sure why it’s showing up here!

Nothing queer in this story, please move on to the morning goods!

Wow! A story about a murdering rapist has no relevance here because its not a GLBT issue? Last time I looked most GLBT people were HUMAN, although the jury is still out on some of the smarmy posters herein.
It has nothing to do with one’s sexuality. Perhaps, having just an iota more compassion than a reptile could cause one to feel for the wrongness this monster did to his victims, their families and friends.
Guaranteed, if this story was about the murder and terror of GLBT folk – and this blog catered to heterosexuals and straight posters pissed all over this story as some of you cold fish have – I can only imagine the sheer volume of righteous gay indignation that would pour forth, if discovered.
It is downright stunning how some of you totally don’t get and don’t care about the solemness, and gravity of this situation because you don’t see it as GLBT.
Pathetic, just fucking pathetic….

One does not behave that way without a traumatic childhood. Something happened. Mark those words. For sure. No doubt. He probably killed animals as a youngster and hates women as a result of someone in his own circle long long long ago. Twisted. Evil. Not worth saving. Lock him and his panties up in a cell for good.

very sexy …for a psychopath…go figure….

The “GLBT angle” that I took away from this story was how in the coverage of the story we constantly hear how his lingerie fetish is ‘perverse’ and ‘deviant’ and how that might inadvertently stigmatize and vilify harmless cross-dressers out there.
The other thought I had when this story first broke months ago was how it’s sort of a repudiation of when the jingoists carry on about “the troops” always always ALWAYS being ‘heroes’ without ever conceding that military personnel are, in fact, just people who sign up for a certain job. Some of them just do it for the money (making them no better than mercenaries), and some of them do it hoping that they’ll get a chance to kill somebody. A case like Williams should serve as a reminder that heroism is defined by the totality of a person’s actions rather than by a uniform they wear. Some of those people in uniforms are murdering psychopaths. My mom knew a few despicable scumbags when she was in the military, and several friends of mine in the army have said the same. Reality demands critical thinking.

The lead headline in the paper here in Canada was about “wearing victim’s panties”. It was typically sensationalist and misleading. The suggestion was that transvestism was some psychopathology that lead one to rape and murder, but the connection was never made. It’s the equivalent of “Headless Body in Topless Bar!”

@OrchidIslander: I don’t think of myself as a cold fish. Of course I think this man is a psychopath, and I find his actions disgusting and deplorable. Of course I have empathy for his victims and their families.
However, I can get news about this monster on any mainstream site. It is difficult, though, to get news about GLBT issues on mainstream sites. That is why I come to queerty. To suggest that this man’s story – which includes the narrative of his wearing his female victims’ (underage and of age) lingerie – is somehow related to legitimate GLBT issues because it involves cross-dressing is offensive to me. I don’t want anybody to draw parallels between who this man is and what he did and anything regarding the GLBT community.
That is why I think it is not only myopic, but actually dangerous, to post the blurb on this site.
