The Duck Dynasty clan is doing a new round of press in advance of the fifth season finale of the show and reminding us again that they’re homophobic idiots.
Less than four months after patriarch Phil Robertson unleashed a media firestorm with his homophobic quotes to GQ magazine, someone from A&E apparently still thinks it’s a good idea to send cast members out on television interviews.
Enter son and co-star Willie Robertson, who even after all of this couldn’t escape from an interview with CNN’s New Day without planting his foot squarely in mouth.
In the interview, the younger Robertson jokes about the controversy while doubling down in support of the outdated and offensive beliefs of his father, then gives a longer answer which manages to be both defiant of criticism and strangely hesitant at the same time:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“I believe what the Bible says. You have to read the Bible and make up your own mind. You have to decide, and God will ultimately decide then. We don’t profess to be God, and we certainly don’t profess to be perfect. Because we have our own sins that we deal with.”
Love the sinner, hate the sin, huh? We’re not buying and from the looks of the declining ratings, neither is most of America.
This Duck Dynasty seems like it’s got a lot of dinosaurs steering its sinking ship.

Their ratings are falling so I guess they need a little press.

Sorry, guys, but like it or not…this is a reality of religion. This is what they believe. The sad part is that they only know the quotes and their beliefs come from lines that are out of context. Truth is, the bible doesn’t say anything concrete against homosexuality. What little lines there are, 12 I believe, can easily be refuted. I think the thing here is that one needs to be aware of what the bible really says. A lot of these people just aren’t educated about what the bible says. If we lived by the word, the world would be a much more different place…even for them.
PARKAVMAN
This is not the best way to boost ratings. It might get them some air time elsewhere and Mary Magdelene Palin may have to cheer them on, but Even A&E an not afford to have shows nose dive.
Cam
It’s funny how these Tea Partiers and Right wingers who seem to constantly bitch about “Hippies” and “Liberals” look like the dirtiest Hippie you could find circa 1971.

@tardis: Even Sisyphus would have balked at fighting back this unending flow of idiots. Like the saying goes, “Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.” These Duck Dynasty folks — and all the other religious bigots — are clearly pigs.
roddyboy4848
yes and didn’t the bible say thou shall not kill and what is the whole word doing so why are people playing with the words in the bible if your going to read the bible read it right and not wrong im gay and I know that GOD WILL FORGIVE MY SINS OF BEING GAY BUT GUESS WHAT HES NOT HERE HE SEE WHATS GOING ON IN THE WORLD AND WHEN HE CRACK THE SKY AND YOU HEAR THE SOUND OF THE HORNS YOU BETTER GET DOWN ON YOUR KNESS AND PRAY FOR FORGIVESS THEN OTHER WISE PLEASE LEAVE REIGIOUS ALONE AND THE GAYS ALONE AND LET GOD DO WHAT HE NEED TO DO AND STOP DOING THE KILLING THINK ABOUT THAT THATS A BIGGER SIN THEN MESSING WITH GAY PEOPLE AND THIS SHOW SUCKS GET A LIFE OR GET OFF THE DAMN TV
DickieJohnson
@roddyboy4848: AMEN, Brotha!!! However, personally, I don’t believe I’m a sinner just by being gay. Why does everyone think the bigots, haters, hillbillies, ignorant Bible-thumpers, and all other fanatics are going to disappear because of some laws and court decisions? All that sh*t is left over from the Church in the Middle Ages.
Shannon1981
They are religious zealots, so what should we expect? Nobody should be surprised by these comments. This is what religious folks believe about us. Nothing to see here, just stop giving them attention and let their ratings continue to sink.
Harley
Why aren’t there religious protests outside of Red Lobster. People who eat shrimp and lobster are CLEARLY sinners, according to the bible, and should be stoned to death as they leave the restaurant. CAN I HAVE AN “AMEN”.
dvlaries
We’ve already heard you schumcks on ‘gay,’ if you need to court controversy to save your brand, time to move on to the other hot buttons like abortion, gun control, feminism or Obamacare.

If the Ducks are going to use the bible as their ‘literal’ guide, then they should at least be consistent:
“Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?” 1 Corinthians 11:14 (King James Version)
And why don’t they discuss what Jesus says about the rich – you know, about how ‘it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter heaven’.
In other words – when Jesus was asked by his disciples if a rich man can get into heaven, he basically told them ‘when pigs fly’. But we never hear the Duck family talking about Jesus denunciation of wealth. Would that be related to their own wealth?
Using one’s religion to rationalize one’s bigotry is a fail.

@aubrey:
For the same reason that evangelicals never preach about divorce or adultry,
They don’t care about anything in the Bible that would inconvenience themselves.

The old man has proven his ignorance, now they are sending the kid out there,These people will say anything for rating.
How desperate and sad!
