Yeah, it’s not really appropriate for Valentine’s Day, but we really do love the 1983 slasher flick, Sleepaway Camp. It’s a pretty self-explanatory Friday The 13th rip-off: a group of kids get maimed and murdered at, you guessed it, sleepaway camp. It differs, however, in the trannie twist at the end. Chilling, indeed.
Though not as successful at the Jason Vorhees franchise, SC did spawn two camptastic sequels starring Bruce Springsteen‘s sister, Pamela. The producers also made a straight to video follow-up and there’s allegedly another in the works: thrilling news that makes our hearts beat a little faster.
For another movie that we love, check out our review of the Lauren Bacall stinker, The Fan, over at Queer Beacon.

BEST. MOVIE. EVER!

I would like to second this by saying Sleep Away Camp is one of the best camp horror movies ever made. But come on, guys, you can’t spoil the good stuff!

Yes! Sleepaway Camp is awesome.
Tied very closely with April Fool’s Day.
And does anyone remember Pandemonium? It was kind of like a Scary Movie take on all of those horror movies. I remember some blonde girl biting it, literally, when the killer drowns her as she takes a bath in a tub of milk, and eating chocolate chip cookies.
