Rooney, 36, works as a police officer in Boston. She also served time in the US Army. The two began dating one year ago, and rumors of marriage have long circulated, though the couple has always downplayed them.

“I keep telling her I’m too old for her,” O’Donnell told People. “But she’s doesn’t seem to care. She’s like, ‘I was in the Army! I put my life on the line every day, you think I don’t know who I want to date?’ I’m like, ‘All right, I guess that’s true.’ She has a lot of good points.”

The two have yet to set a date. The marriage will mark Rooney’s first, and O’Donnell’s third. She was previously married Keilli Carpenter from 2004 to 2007 (though the marriage was later annulled by the California Supreme court; one early skirmish in the fight for marriage equality) and to the late Michelle Rounds from 2011 to 2015.
