The Catholic Church has long served as a roadblock for full acceptance of LGBT people. But these times they are a-changing. And they’re changing fast.
A user on Imgur, the popular online image hosting service, recently posted a screenshot of a text message he received from his 13-year-old sister, Paige. What she wrote to her gay brother will totally make your day and possibly even restore your faith in humanity.
Check it out:
You go, Paige! We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. It’s strong-willed, free-thinking young people like yourself who are paving the way for a more loving and accepting world.

Basically what my sister said to me when I came out to her. And we were both raised Catholic too. Alas my homophobic, intolerant father remains to be brought around to the correct way of thinking on this subject…

@Paul Nadolski: It took 10 some years for my father to really come around, and by that time I made if VERY clear to him that either he accepted all of me or he got NONE of me. I had pretty much cut off all contact when I started dating my partner and my partner started asking about my parents, and since they really like my partner they eventually came around.

If only politicians had the emotional intelligence of this cool 13 year old!!

Once the SCOTUS makes marriage equality a national law we will see some breaking down in the anti-gay politicians meaning the GOP. Slowly but it will happen

@Paul Nadolski: Dear Paul, My friend Donald is from a vehemently religious family. When he and Jimmy celebrated their second anniversary, they went to Texas to meet Donald’s family. I asked him how it went and this was his reply: “I went to give them information, NOT to ask permission.”
Don’t allow your dad to think for a moment that his attitude has anything to do with your happiness. Of course it would be nice if he came around, but have a great life regardless.

@jlfbman: YOU SAID IT!
Or any intelligence at all, I would add.
Maybe we should let 13-year-old girls run the world. They couldn’t possibly do any worse than all the old men.

Good for you Paige for standing up to prejudice and bigotry!
